Sarah,

It's been so long!! So glad to see you're still killing it girl! You're doing amazing. I'm back after having life get in my way of a healthier me. I think about you a lot and your dedication to going to workout. It's really helped me and I've started to go to the gym as much as possible!

Keep up the good work!

Happy Wednesday! Hump day is over for me, and it's all good coming your way!
I had a good treadmill run today, and then the stairs...I'm getting to the point where I can run up the steps, from 3rd floor to 21st...still very winded at the end of that, but able to do it, and pretty happy about that!
I've got about 8 weeks before the big marathon on "the wall"...got a long run this weekend, so I'll have to take it easy on the foot!

Justina, Maryann and Cory
Thanks for your encouragement for the clothes...I do feel pretty good about it the new clothes! Size XL in China is not the same as XL in the US...I'm just happy to be able to buy off the shelf here!

Munch!! So good to see you back! How have you been? I'll have to check out your diary and see what's up! Yes, I'm still chugging along, weighing in at about 171 today, and now in at about 34% bodyfat...the weightloss has slowed down a lot, but continuing to get firmer

Good choices to you all!
Sarah

Weightloss alert!
drum roll please...I have made a big milestone today!!! I have lost 100 pounds! I weighed in this morning at 169.5 (I didn't have the digital scale back when I started, and when I switched, I had to "adjust to a heavier weight of about 6 pounds...that was tough!), but I now can officially say it...I've hit a major milestone! And, I'm now at 33.1% bodyfat which is a good progress also!
The progress rate has slowed to a crawl...but that's OK with me today (other days not so much!)...I know I've changed my lifestyle and my body is finding the right weight for me with a calorie and food level I'm comfortable maintaining, so I accept a slower weightloss progress.
Exercising today I did my 50 min on the elliptical, then ran the steps from 3-21...
Justina,Maryanne, Munch, Cory, Cate, Kate, Feelingooder, Brawny, Alice29, Annabanana, and many others along the way. Thanks for your continued support and help. I'm sure I would not be continuing along this journey without you!

I'd also like to thank and recommend 3 podcasts that have helped me: (I get no payment or endoresment fee!!...they have just really helped me get educated and make better choices) All of these can be found on itunes and I switch up listening to them while in the fitness center...usually on the stepper, elliptical or rower (I listen to fast moving songs on the treadmill).. Give them a try...they might help you too!

Truly a motivation!

~Camila~

WEE HOO SARAH!!!!!

Well done!!!!!
:hurray:
THAT IS AWESOME!!!
:hurray:
xoxo Cate
:beerchug: - with iced water, of course ;)

100 pounds! That's quite the milestone. I actually teared up a little bit thinking about because I know how I'd feel at that milestone too.

Thanks everyone!! I admit, I do feel proud of that accomplishment! I am planning for that to be a once in a life time deal!
Yesterday, I did the long run in training for the marathon, and today I feeling it...not only in my foot, now in my knee (I think the knee is related to the foot). At any rate, this is my last marathon..I'm better suited to the 1/2 marathon I think given my flat feet! Two more long runs, then the race, then it's over...back to running just for good exercise, and not as a train up! I think I will probably keep running the stairs though, it really helps firm up the legs and butt!
I plan to take it easy today, just walking a but around town.

maryann...you keep doing what you're doing girl, and you'll be celebrating some more milestones girl...it is possible, even at our age!
Camila welcome to the forum..as you can see by my diary, I've been here awhile...started this journey back in June 2011 and slowly, but surely, I'm getting to where I want to be...you can do it too! As I say on here (and have to remind myself)...it's a journey, not a race! We all want to look and feel better immediately, but life isn't like that...it's all about choices...do I want that short term treat, or do I want that sustainable lifestyle that will give me good health and good looms? Sux, but true!
Cory, didn't mean to make you tear up! You know, you and I started out at about the same weight...so you see, it is possible girl! Engineers can lose weight too! Keep making all those good food and exercise choices, and it will continue to come off! I know you can do it!
Justina Yes, it does feel good! I really doesn't change anything because as I've said, I've changed my lifestyle and focusing on my health..continuing to lose little by little (and I do mean little!), and inching down to a good stable weight and muscle mass.
Cate...awe Cate...you have been there with me through most of this journey... You showed me I could do this...you've been there before and are still here helping all of us!

So, now, the celebrating is over...back to work!!

Thanks again everyone! Keep making good choices and remembering that it's a lifestyle change...and we can change our mind if we can't sustain what we are doing now...I am at the point where I can sustain, so no major changes required to maintain this weight and continue to slowly get lower...that's an important insight for me!

Good choices to all!

Sarah

You know, I don't run for cardio because I have issues with my flat feet. I tend to find other things to do. Have you found some kind of tennis shoe or something that helps with it? I wouldn't mind trying some running, but my feet always wind up SO sore that it's really not worth it for me right now. I'm hoping that as I lose weight, the stress on my poor feet will be less and maybe I could give it a shot.

Hey Sarah - thanks , as always, for your on-going support & inspiration ,
... & you are so right , everyone has their own pace of how fast we can manage to lose-but as long as we keep on going - ... we will all get to where we want to be. :)

- the healthy eats & exercise are now becoming the habit-routine for me, and the junk-food/lazy days are becoming the exception ...so the lifestyle change is sinking-in and sticking...

- sounds like you are getting into your home-stretch on the GreatWall marathon training, I am glad ... as it does sound like you are pretty close to the limit of what your feet & knee can handle , I totally agree that you are wise to plan for 1/2 marathons' after this one,... a permanent injury is just not worth it...as you say to all of us - all things in moderation - no extremes...

... so glad you have found a life-style routine that you can sustain , definately inspiration for me that (someday) I can get there too...

cheers Sarah,
maryann.

You are amazing Sarah. I m so happy for you.
I wish just changing life style could help me. Unfortunately i have to work hard. I changed diet about a year ago (ok admittedly i had slip ups..) I went organic a year ago: eating tons of veggies & fruits, whole grains etc. I just need to exercise a lot to show some result on the scale!
I guess you are doing a lot of exercise!! So i must follow suit.

Well, it's Saturday here in China..Spring is trying to spring...but can't get away from Winter just yet! I have been taking it easy this week on exercise..my knee is getting better every day, but still not good enough for running..so I've done some days of elliptical, but not every day. today I went to a traditional Chinese massage place to get an intensive massage from my knees and down...90 minutes of rubbing and pinching and prodding! Followed by a traditional chinese treatment to heel my knee..it's a technique called cupping...it involves getting a glass globe (looks like a 2 cup fishbowl) and they put a hot flame inside, then they stick it on your skin, and as it cools, it draws a vacuum and sucks your skin up in the thing. I can't say it feels good, but I figure they've been doing it for years, so what can it hurt!? They put several around and on my knee and foot to the point my whole leg is now somewhat polkadotted! I got my husband to take some pictures, but I don't have them yet...that will be worth a blog entry! I just hope it helps...I've come to far to be put out of this marathon now!
Eating I've done OK...missing my exercise though! Hard to imagine that 2 years ago this time I was carrying 100 pounds more than now..no wonder my feet and knees hurt!
If my polka-dot leg is up to it, I'll run a short run tomorrow and see how it goes!

Best of choices to all!

Sarah

So, it's SundAy, and I decided not to run today, so I did my 60 min on the elliptical and it didn't hurt my knee at all, so then I walked the steps from 3-12th floor easily. I'm going to take the rest of the week off from running, and doing the steps easily. I think it's tendinitis, so I don't want to go back to running too soon!
Eating well and doing an approach to try to have the magic 3 at each meal..1 protein, 1 carb , 1 healthy fat...all in balance and all within my calorie limit for the day.
Good choices to all!

Sarah
