Salty Sweat

viciousness

I'm well aware, as I'm sure all of you are, that sweat contains a small concentration of salt. However, lately when I've been running, I've noticed my sweat taking on a grainy consistency. When I touch my cheeks and forehead, it feels almost like I can feel salt crystals in it. Is it supposed to do that?

I drink A LOT of water, and keep my sodium levels relatively level. Just curious to know if this happens to anyone else. :)

Sounds more likely to be dirt or something else adhering to the sweat, I haven't experienced actual grainy salt in sweat, I don't think it can actually happen like that. Taste it, if that doesn't seem too disgusting, it should be the normal level of salinity.

I get this, too. But i think it's just dirt. I'll ask my trainer tomorrow and post on what it is.. I've been wondering about it, too. I've sweat out alcohol before. I could actually taste the liquor again. Yuck.

:) Thanks guys for your responses. I actually think that it may just be dirt. Whatever it is, it's not really a serious problem.

As for sweating out alcohol, that must have been awful! Then again, if I even smell vodka I gag. Bad highschool experiences. :rotflmao:
