Hello everyone.
I'm Ryan, and I'd like to welcome myself (and you!) to........

Ryan's Fight Club Diet Journal.

It is 1:18 a.m. on Monday, November 27th, 2006.

Caffeine is still shooting through my veins. I feel wired in a bad way. I'm here to start my new lifestyle now. I invite all readers to chime in with support and comments if need be. It will be a fun road of self-discovery.
I embrace this new challenge: Current weight: 226 pounds. I want to get down to 190 pounds.

You may be asking me, "Ryan, why is your diet journal called Fight Club?"

Answer: I met Author Chuck "Fight Club" Palahniuk at a book signing a few years back in Boulder, Colorado. When it came time to shake his hand and meet him, he signed the following on my 2-disc special edition dvd of the movie Fight Club:

RYAN, ENJOY YOUR FIGHTS!

I'm about to go 12 rounds people. It'd be great to hear the crowd in the background.

Ding Ding.

Heya's and welcome Ryan,Good luck to ya sounds
like you have a plan.Keep us updated Have a gr8 Monday
Tammy

Thanks

Thanks everyone!
I was touched to come here to see so many nice people wish me well.

I wish YOU ALL continued success as well!

Day One: (ADDED)

I am using today to brush "the negative cobwebs" out of my mind as I adjust my lifestyle.

I am going to work out in a bit. :)

Hey Ryan,
Oooh, my favorite movie is Fight Club and my favorite author is Chuck Palahniuk. Welcome to the forums!!

1. The first rule of the weight loss is you have to stick to your goals.
2. The second rule of the weight is that you HAVE To stick to your goals.
3. If someone says "you can't do this" or "you can't make it" the fight has to continue no matter what anyone says.
4. Only you and yourself to a fight.
5. One fight at a time. One fight is all there should be.
6. Shirts and shoes have to remain on while jogging and/or any aerobic activity, swimming is not included.
7. The fight will go on as long as they have to, until you reach your goal.
8. And the eigth and final rule, if this is your first time dieting, you HAVE to get in the routine of drinking lots of water!

Hi Ryan,
Welcome to the WLF and to your diary!
It sounds like you've got great determination and getting started is the first step towards achieving those goals!

Good for you for taking that first step :)

I am Ryan's Fantastic Ego

Day One (Part III)

I have consumed more water today than the previous three days combined. Scary, good, true.

Good workout today as well.

My body feels.............clean today. Good Clean Feeling after Day One here.

=========================

changeforlife, I understood and appreciated every funny Fight Club reference in your post. Along with everyone else, thanks for the good words!

I reckon the change in sugar will make you feel better all around. You'll stop having the sugar highs and lows and everything will even out.

Good work on Day One!

Best

Tomble,
Thanks!
My best to you!
I have not had the chance to glance at your journal, but I will!
I will be going to bed shortly feeling good.
GOOD night to all for Day One!
:D

Day 2

Day two begins with myself patting myself on the back for getting through that "Rusty Day One."

I have started the day with 3 glasses of water and a light workout.

Breakfast was a small bowl of organic raisin bran with organic skim milk.

Lunch is going to be a tuna fish sandwich, hold the bread.

Enjoying the new clean feeling I discussed on day one.

I'm not having cravings for anything. Sure, the mind can tempt one to do bad things. However, the happy twist is that I am craving healthy items, and, BIGGEST SURPRISE, MORE WATER!

Heya's Ryan,
Congrats on making it to day to and without
those craving's! Your doing gr8 and your menue looks gr8.
I am suprised I have heard of every diet in the universe but
not that sounds interesting! Have a gr8 Tuesday,Tammy:)

Hi Ryan! You sound like you are doing great and are really motivated atm which is the hardest thing! Good luck and hope you had a good day!

Hi Ryan! Looks like you're doing well! Congrats on getting through the first couple of days...it gets easier with every day! Keep it up and keep on drinking all of that water :D

Hey Ryan,
Wanted to stop in and say "HOWDY" hope
your day's are getting easier, your doing gr8 so far! Keep up
the awesome work,Tammy

Day Three:
Two feet of snow fell in the mountains today. I had quite the workout digging out of my driveway, back deck, and, most adventurous, getting snow off my roof so that my dish could get a signal.
A good day overall!
I ate well, didn't cheat on anything, and pounded tons of water.
Sitting here, I know I've already lost a little bit of weight.
I have been mostly SUGAR FREE and completely SODA FREE. I have eaten so much tuna (well, more than normal) that I feel I may grow flippers (even though tuna don't have flippers).
ANYWAYS.
The clean feeling inside my body is a natural high.
Oh. The bad part of my day? SEVERE HEADACHE due to sugar deprivation and 3-day caffeine withdrawal.
Eventually, I'll be doing green tea (decaf).
It is 11:30 p.m. as I write this.
I actually got myself out of bed to come write here.
I am thankful to be "meeting" you guys here for support, and I especially happy to be forcing myself to write my thoughts down. Holding yourself accountable can go a long way come GUT CHECK time!
I feel like I have needles in my eyes due to the long, successful day that it has been.
Question: Are there things you do for yourself to reward yourself for a job well done? For example, I may be going to a movie this weekend to celebrate. I'll have to resist the great smells of popcorn at the theater (only time I consider it, but usually never get it anways).
Had a good workout today outside as I mentioned.
Also to note: I am doing daily stretching in the morning everyday now. I also do random stretching throughout the day.
And, I pound that H2O like there's no tomorrow.

It sounds like you are doing AWESOME! The water is HUGE. I really pounded it back in the beginning as well, and who cares if I was running to the bathroom every 20 minutes, I felt great. LOL! I haven't been doing as well with it, what with my diet pepsi slip and slide binge, but it's ALL GONE, drank the last one last night and didn't buy anymore at the store yesterday. So, it's water and Crystal Lite. Shovelling is a great workout, isn't it! I actually like doing it, just don't like the temperatures that are going along with it right now!

Keep up the awesome work!!!!!!!! And you DO deserve to treat yourself to something at the end of a good week, I would definately pick a movie if I had the option!
