Running without good trainers

Me and my ssister are starting running tomorrw, but right now i have no money at all, not until i get my student loan, or wages (whatever comes first) and i only have either converse trainers which are no good for running, or really cheap trainers i got from asda, which have no support in them, is this ok for a week or two until i get trainers?

I ran in unsuitable (not even cheap) trainers for a couple of weeks when I first started out, and I gave myself a knee injury that forced me to take 4 weeks off running, so no, I wouldn't recommend it.

When I do any walking in non supportive shoes, or shoes that are past their shelf life - I feel it in my heels, my ankles and my knees - not to mention back...

I couldn't even imagine running in shoes that weren't appropriate even for the short term.

I'd wait until you get proper shoes and do something that won't be so high impact in the meantime...

My ex-girlfriend went running in trainers not quite fit for the purpose - a lot of discomfort and pain was the result.

If you really want some exercise and cannot afford a good pair of trainers quite yet (good ones designed specifically for running can be quite expensive), may I suggest swimming?

I love swimming but i dye my hair blonde, and i find it really hard to swim without getting my hair wet :p I go sometimes, but i don't go very often.

As for swimming, I dye my hair as well. You can get nice swim caps for pretty cheap.

Running, I would not suggest with out the proper foot wear. I wasn't wearing the proper foot wear and experienced some numbness in my feet. My shoes were running shoes, but they were not right for my foot. When you go get shoes make sure you go to a running shop where they can watch you run and suggest the proper apparel. Are you ready to start running? Or is it something you need to work up to? If you haven't been out there already you could start walking the first couple days until you have $ to get shoes.

Just a few thoughts.
