Running/Walking

I have no idea if you guys are gonna be able to answer this but here it goes, Someone told me that walking does the same for you as running. For example running a 3 miles outside and walking 3 miles outside does the same exact thing for you losing weight and all. Does anyone understand what i mean? If anyone knows about this please let me know. Because that would be great every other day i would switch off so it would tire me so bad.

Thanks :)

Depending on your pace, 3 miles of running could take as much as 9 miles of walking to be equal. Also, remember that that could mean the difference between 30 minutes of running and 3 hours of walking!

Run!

Jeff Galloway's plan of run/walk is killer! Basically you would run 4 minutes and then walk for 1 minute. Continue this for your entire run. Depending on your pace, you would increase your running minutes as you run faster.

I currently jog at a 9.5 minute mile pace doing 7 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking. I use my walking minute to hit the bottle and drink a bit of water.

My marathon (I ran last weekend) I ran at a 10.5 minute mile doing a 6 minute run and 1 minute walk the entire way. I finished it in 4:39:02.

Running is awesome! And, it works best when used in conjunction with strength (cross) training.

Keep up the good work,
Rip

I think what you mean is it burns the same amount of calories. I've read that too, it may be true. Running it though would be more beneficial for your cardiovascular system.
