Running, its turns into an addiction.

I can say I'm a running addict with pride. I started when I was thirteen. I just completed my first half-marathon December 1, 2007. There have been times in my life when I haven't run for a few months at a time due to laziness or just not taking care of myself and those have been extremely dark periods for me. There's something about getting to escape for a half hour or an hour and devote time to pushing your body as far as it will go. It does something to me...it reminds me I'm alive and I'm in control. It's my way of rebelling, I guess, as goofy as that sounds. I get to say, "I have a ton of stuff to do, but I'm still putting my sneakers on and running away from it and there's nothing anyone can do about it." When I run consistently, I am more focused, I have more energy, I take better care of myself, and I sleep better. How can you not get addicted to that?

I agree

I think it's just natural to enjoy running. The need to get out, be free, and watch the world flow by is a desire from cavemen days! Moving your feet, feeling the wind blowing across your face and taking in the fresh air -- it's crazy!

I mean, why do you think we love to run so much as kids :willy_nilly:

I agree. In the beginning, five minutes on the treadmill seems like hell, you just want it to end. :ack2: But after only 3 weeks of going at it I find myself looking forward to the evening. [when I do my workout] I can now run for almost 30 minutes a night. I love the way you feel when you're done. You feel like you can accomplish anything! :willy_nilly:

wow

30 minutes?! You are well fit! I an run on a treadmill for like 4 minutes then i shattered!!!

I am still in the stage where i am forcing myself to run. I don'y mind it when i'm doing it, but it's getting up of my bum that is the problem!!
