Run after training or off days

Best to do cardio on your "off" days....i.e. when you are not weight training.

If you must do it the same day then do your cardio after your weights sesh.
 
I had good success with doing a steady state run for 20 minutes after training on Monday, Wed., and Friday, and doing HIIT on Tuesday and Thursday. It can be pretty taxing though, so ease into it.
