Rowing machines: advice needed

Hello all,
I'm trying to find a way to have maximum workout with minimum fuss. Something to do at home that actually shows results. I don't know too much about fitness, but I read that a complete fitness program is strength training + aerobic training (and nutrition of course). And strength training should train all muscle groups. I've done a lot of searching for home equipment, and it seems that a rowing machine might be the answer. It's advertised as training all the muscle groups plus giving you a good aerobic workout. Now I read someplace else that rowing doesn't train the pectorals (chest) as much as the other muscles. So I thought about doing a good rowing session, and then doing push-ups for the chest (maybe on alternating days though. I might be exausted). Does this sound to you like a good plan? Are rowing machines really that good? I don't want huge muscles or anything like that, just to be in shape. Also, a gym is out of the question for me.

Thx guys.

yeah Rowing machine is great (T-bar right?). if you do rows one day and push ups another u might be working some of the same muscles.

if you just want to get in shape you could work out a lot of your muscles with just a pair of dumb bells.

or an ajustable bench maybe one of those that can ajust levels, has leg curls and extention attached to it and preacher curl padding n stuff.
