Rope Skipping?

Doesn't really matter too much which way you jump.

I keep changing constantly throughout to keep it interesting, jumping from side to side, kicking legs forward and back while jumping etc....

I jump like I'm crazy. I'm just all over the place. One foot, two feet, the running motion, side to side, fast, slow. Keeping it fun and energetic. I'm sure there's a right way, but I like my way thus far. I haven't push the rope to the side or use it to hang clothes. Haven't injured myself. Hahah, even when my cat is outside with me, if I get tired, I run around with the rope (like a string) so my cat can catch me or the rope anyhow. Fun times for the both of us and yes, it's considered to be exercising/moving your ass.. or at least to me.

Of course you can. It won't make much of a difference, at all. In fact, if you skip in very cold conditions, you will burn MORE calories.

I had to get in on the jump rope conversation. It's great. Using a weighted rope is also a great arm work out.

One thing I did want to mention to those who haven't done it before is that I developed shin splints from skipping too much, too soon, when I first began. So my advice is that if you start to feel pain on or around your tibias, slow it down, and be sure to stretch your calves and shins as much as you can before and after your work out.
