Am i correct that the difference between standard deadlift and romanian deadlift are that in romanian, you dont return the weight completely to the ground?
What are the benefits of each exercise?

I always understood RDL to be having your feet very far out, like, 24-30" apart, so you only have to bend at the hips to reach the bar. now i'm not very sure.
stiff leg deadlifts are a slight bend in the knees, but you do NOT MOVE YOUR LEGS...it all comes from the hips and lower back and glutes, no quads at all.
according to M&F:
the legs don't bend, and you start with the weight up off the ground, then lower it as far as you can, keeping back straigh, and the legs don't move.
the more I google, the more I find that RDL and SLDL are the same thing.
I'm gonna ask on another forum.

Found the answer. Per the most perfect t-vixen in the world..."SLDL goes all the way down, RDLs you lean back more with your ass, but the difference is slight."
so its essentially the same movement, but SLDL goes further down, and the legs are apparently almost straight, just not locked at the knees, vs. more bent in a RDL.
and I'm apparently watching the wrong people at the gym do deadlifts while attempting to do the splits simultaneously![]()
