Returning to fitness

Hello all,

My name's Jeremy, friends call me Spades and I'm 6'4 currently weighing 320 lbs. About 2 years ago, while playing football, I was about 265 lbs, in excellent shape and benching about 315-345 and squatting 445-465, though don't ask how much I maxed at as I don't know. I find "maxing" to be irrelevant, dangerous and inaccurate.

I'm joining this forum cause I want to start running. Weight lifting's always been my thing and running was something I only did for football. Well now that I'm grotesquely out of shape I want to start. Not just to help me get fit again, but to make it a weekly routine and part of my lifestyle.

One thing I do know is I HATE running and its time to change that.

I commend you for wanting to get into shape, but at 320#, I don't think running is in your best interests at this time. I think the stress on your leg ligaments and tendons would be worse than the benefits from running.

Get your weight down through other means, walking, biking or swimming for cardio and resume weight training and when you are in the mid 200's ease into running.

Just my worthless opinion.

welcome to the forum

It may be a good idea to pick a discipline that you love, or at least like, at first. then as you pick up momentum, and start to enjoy sme benefits of improved fitness, you can go after the things you hate.

BUT- doing something you hate right from the start is almost sure to fail.

:)

now, you may just do it to prove us wrong. hahaha whatever it takes baby!

Sweat Daily!

Sorry I made a mistake. Not 320, but 310. My average weight when I was lifting and running everyday (off season) was 275 and (during season) 265, therefore I don't think losing that much weight would be such a good idea.
