Resisting temptations at work!!

Hey yall!

So does anyone around this forum also work as a bartender or club scene? I have to say it really affects my ability to have a healthy lifestyle! From working late nights, having drinks bought for me (though I have learnt to refrain from drinking them!) and late night eating. It really feels like its working against any effort to start a healthy routine! Last week I also attended a beer sommelier class by Stella Artois... it was so informative but I had to taste so many beer and different foods.. Think I will be in the gym for the next month working that off.

Any tips on how to counter act my work lifestyle?

During the day I am surrounded by coffee and pastry stands, which used to tempt me to no end because pastries were my favorite junk food.

I got over the temptation by cutting out all junk food, it was hard at first but now it's very easy and I have no cravings. Also, I carry my own food with me now (simply because it's nearly impossible to buy anything healthy). Consider bringing things like nuts with you, or some fruits or vegetables, or a piece of bread with cheese on it.

If you're in dire straits and have no food, you can buy some milk and that's healthy and filling.

The biggest thing by far was cutting out junk food completely.

You need to do two things:

1. Remind yourself of your motivation to stay on track: whatever it takes, pictures, post-it notes, sayings, memories.

2. Trying to stop or reduce the temptation. Its no different from any other time really, the temptation is there all along anyway, but at work when your bored or low or fed up the temptations can feel like a break or can occupy an empty mind or a tierd mind. Bring your own food in, eat a decent breakfast, take a well balanced lunch, drink plenty of water and recognise that it is hard, it will be hard, but that the pay off is worth it if thats what you really want.
