Research on healthy lifestyles

Hi weight-loss forum members,

We are a group of researchers at the University of Southampton and Microsoft Research, conducting research into how technology could play a role in enhancing healthy lifestyles. And we need your help! We hope this post is appropriate and interesting to members of this forum, but apologize and will remove if not.
As part of this, we'd like to understand how to make it easier for people to find information to better support their health goals, and would greatly appreciate 10 minutes of your time to fill in an anonymous survey at surveygizmo.com/s/64428/exercise-and-diet-forum

If you have any questions, please e-mail dr mc schraefel, mc+health at ecs.soton.ac.uk (users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mc/)

Many thanks, and we look forward to your participation.

a) Do they not have informed consent / Institutional Review Boards / Human Subjects Committees or the equivalent at UK universities?

b) Are you doing scientific research, or a marketing survey for some Microsoft gadget?

c) Some of your questions are based on inappropriate / inapplicable assumptions, with no appropriate response possible, which makes me think you aren't conducting a scientific survey.

d) After clicking clicking clicking, I'm not entirely convinced that this is spam, but it's definitely being done for some marketing purpose. My best guess is "where to spend online advertising dollars for a new scale that keeps long-term weight records."

You're my idol.
