Stupid question time!
On Monday I had my first workout session at the gym and spent some time on a recumbent bike. I used the 'fat burning' program on the bike, so it was stepping up and down in resistance at various intervals. I found the stepping down to be somewhat difficult to manage, because my legs were used to the stiffer resistance... there was a natural tendency to pump much faster at lower resistance levels but it felt... awkward. Of out of control. So I dialed it back to the rhythm I was using with the stiffer resistance.
How am I supposed to do this? Am I supposed to pedal faster at lower resistance levels, or should I be aiming to keep my pace steady throughout the intervals? Or does it not matter as long as I keep pedaling and my heart rate stays up?
