So I've been building out my youtube favorites list as I also add to my own personal videos. I figured I'd start a thread where I post videos of proper exercise form, good instruction, or anything else of relevance.

I'll start with some magnificent videos of one of my favorite coaches, Mark Rippetoe, doing his thing. Awesome stuff.

Mark on deadlifting:

Mark on overhead pressing:

and

Mark on benching and spotting the bench:

Great videos.
I just keep learning things I have done wrong all my life....

But I am learing how to do a proper deadlift.

But I am learing how to do a proper deadlift.

Mark's instruction of the deadlift is the best I've seen. Most easily applied too.

Place feet under the bar.

Make sure the bar splits the foot in half so that it's at the center of the foot.

Bend down and take an overhand grip on the bar just outside your shins. You should bend down until your shins lightly touch the bar.

This should place the scapulas directly over the bar. Your shoulders will be slightly ahead of the bar.

Lift your chest up nice and high which will naturally, properly put your upper and lower back into extension.

Pull the bar straight off the floor keeping it in slight contact with your legs the entire trip.

Reverse the movement.
