I've been reading this forum here and there for a few months, though I have only just decided to register and post something.
I have been working on weight loss since about May of 2009. Lifetime of being overweight basically. I started at 340 pounds at the end of May, though realistically I was definitely higher than that before I started keeping track (and actually bought a scale that went high enough to weigh in.)
So far I have lost about 130 pounds, I'm currently working on getting below 200, am at about 210 right now with a height of 6 foot 2.
I think the toughest things for me have been the negative people in my life and the ones with bad advice and totally wrong conceptions on weight loss. So this forum has been a source of useful information for me. To this day I still am struggling with people in my life telling me oh, you are skinny, that's just loose skin and you need to lift weights to tone that up. It's nice to have a resource of the proper information though it still can be so discouraging dealing with the constant drilling in of the negative and wrong information like that on a day to day basis.
My current routine consists of 6 days a week jogging 6mph 40 minutes a day with a 5 minute cool down walk, twice a day, while trying to maintain a calorie intake of 1500-2000 a day max. I set a goal for myself to be 180 within a year so I still have till the end of May to make that goal from the 210 I am at now. Here's hoping it continues to go well, and that I can manage to keep getting around the negative influences. Hopefully posting here will be a source of motivation as reading has been.
