Red Panda: Cute but fierce!

So pole dancing aside, I'm still of course doing yoga and weight training - actually more weight training than pole dance lately, as I've hit a plateau. Basically I need more upper body and abdominal strength before I can continue on to more difficult pole moves. So while I strengthen up, I'll basically just keep in practice with what I know until I can progress.

In the meantime, classes have started and I've opted to take a course in Aikido for credit. Had my first class last night and it was pretty fun! Got to throw some people around and all =) The instructor says I'm very fluid for a beginner and catching on well, so hopefully I'll be able to kick some butt by the end of the semester. I didn't find the Aikido training to be very challenging as far as a workout, but it was the first day and we'll be working on technique a great deal rather than strength. I mean, the idea of Aikido is that you can conquer someone stronger if you do it right.

Aikido is pretty fun! Learning so far how to react to having a wrist grabbed in a few different ways, how to step correctly, and how to use "isolated pivot" (core strength exercises really). Its pretty good. Not an intense workout by any means, but just another fun way to keep active.

Weight training at the gym is also going well - last week in one workout I did several sets that added up to a total of 40 push-ups, 80 press ups using ten pound weights, and 120 squats. Also did half a mile on the treadmill before and then after these sets, the second even faster than the first. Woot!

Gym workout yesterday added up to ten sets of ten each of split press, squats, super-mans (lying on stomach lifting arms and legs by contracting the back), and up-and-overs (an ab workout where you hold a weight, straighten out your arms and legs, then crunch everything in). So thats 100 of each! Same again with a bike this time, half mile before half after and second one has to be faster. Now my abs are soooore! But in that good way :D

Another fun day at the gym, doing a mix of cardio and weights. Been trying to keep up with at least 3 days a week in addition to the Aikido. My yoga has slipped to once a week if I can make it, sadly my classes collide with all the good classes.

In other news, Panda got pierced! I've been pondering it since I was a sophomore in high school, and I finally got the guts up to just do it:

So here is my new look (still little puffy, this was right out of the salon) and with the lollipop the piercer gave me for not crying :p I will be changing the nose ring to a stud after the two week healing period is up and I'm allowed to switch it out.

Lovely piercings and photo.

:D

Nice job on the log.

Aikido?? I've always wanted to try that...

Jeez you're pretty active...nice!

Good day!

Well darnit if the exercise isn't on hold again -_- I have somehow managed to come down with bronchitis and sinusitis at the same time. So pretty much I can't do anything that involves me breathing functionally. I'll be on meds for the next two weeks (I even got cough syrup with codine in it to help me sleep without coughing fits) and then I'll be alright. But antibiotics work pretty quickly, so hopefully it won't be the full two weeks before I can exercise again.

So I'm not dead, just been sick on and off and all that fun. Finals are over though (hooray!). I ended up taking about a month off from the gym because of my sickness, but the past two weeks I've been back to working out. My weight has stayed pretty much the same the past few months, which is ok. So hopefully I'll be back posting updates, but I won't be detailing what I eat until AFTER the holidays =P Haha.

New year, holiday eating is over (urghf! I think we all understand... haha) and its time to get back on track! I definitely gained a little fat and lost a little muscle during my hiatus. Back to the gym on Monday, and back to my old eating plan. Hopefully I can whip myself back into shape!

Well I hope you all haven't missed me too much! A lot going on here... crazy drama that I won't go into, but the stress has not been kind to my body and I'm feeling flabby =( I'm in a new state for awhile and figuring out the local gym which is way smaller than the one back home and without classes (alas!) - might have to find one a little further away that does have them. Lots of work to do...

Still alive, still with less internet access than I had, but making better due with local fitness resources - found an EXCELLENT yoga class, and a really fun cardio kickboxing class. I miss you all by the way =P I should really update properly with weight, measurements, maybe a picture of me in a bikini again (bet that would get replies eh? eh? Hah!). But mostly just trying to balance physical health with mental health right now in the face of outside insanity affecting me. Argh.

The shortest version I can make it is that there was a lot of drama going on with my family and most of my friends, I've had two friends die in the past several months, and my biological family (I am adopted) found me a couple of months ago, so now I have sisters I never knew about, which is pretty amazing. I've been through some other interesting things too - I worked in a greenhouse, I worked at a Renaissance fair, I've been in a couple of plays, and I took up knitting to name just a few.

Anyway, as of right now, here is where I am at as far as my physical shape.

Weight: 147 lbs
Bust: 34.5 inches
Waist: 30 inches
Hips: 40.5 inches

My current workout schedule (working without access to a good gym sadly):

Monday: 1.5 hours vigorous vinyasa yoga
Wednesday: 1.5 hours vigorous vinyasa yoga
Friday: 1 hour cardio kickboxing
Saturday: 1.5 hours yoga, schedule permitting

I've replaced all sodas and juices with water and tea, I've been making my power smoothies for breakfast, and eating generally healthy lunches and dinners and cutting back on sugar.

So I did both the usual yoga AND an all day Feldenkrais movement workshop yesterday - stretched muscles I didn't know I had in ways I didn't know I could. Example: I interlaced my toes while lying on my back, then rocked back and forth with them interlaced. Yeah. Body feels interesting this morning - but in a good way. =D

You stretched your shoelace muscles? ;P
