Realistic Goals

So in an ideal world I'd wake up tomorrow and be 130 pounds, yes I'd have to buy lots of new clothes but hey I'd be willing to fork out if I were suddenly not my lumpy 180. However given this is not likely to be the case I'm interested to know (having just started on this journey) what some other ppl who have lost/are losing 30 pounds or more aimed at losing weekly. I started at 181 now four weeks later I'm 175 and would like to end up at 130ish. I've been trying to aim to lose 2 pounds weekly but I'd like to know how other ppl chose their goals, i.e did you have a number you want to reach weekly/monthly. I find tracking really useful but I don't want to be discouraged by choosing an unrealistic goal.

Anyway would be keen to hear what ppl aimed for, I've seen some fantastic photos on here and am very motivated from those.

My goal is about 2 lbs, but Im happy if I lose one...

Only One Pound

"Hello, do you know me? If you don't you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm Only One Pound, just a pound. Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds or fifteen pounds, but never only one, so I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself ever so slyly so that you never seem to notice it, that is until I've grown to ten, twenty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it's fun being Only One Pound of fat, left to do as I please. So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying "Oh, I only lost one pound." ( as if that were such a terrible thing!) For you see, if you do this you'll encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm not worth losing. And I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you. Happy Days!! After all, I'm Only One Pound of fat!!!"

I was shooting for 4 lbs now I shoot for 1 to 2 lbs.

In a fantasy world I would love to lose 5 pounds a week and It was once possible for me, but I'm older now and heavier now.

So about 2-3 would be fine, but If I end up losing only 1lb than it's fine with me, as long as the weight is going backwards and not frontwards.

Just going by the scale wasn't overly helpful to me because I saw how fickle it could really be...

I've said this quite often around here... but i'd buy an article of clothign a size too small and use that as my target 'goal' --

Now, size still matters to me but I'm more focused on fitness - so It's 10 percent... to increase the distance/weight by 10 percent every two weeks... and trying to improve my time as well

My goal was 20-25 pounds every two months. Week-by-week, I got enough random variation that I could easily be up, rather than down.
