I've never liked diet or exercise so this will be a challenge. I'm very active but i've been an unhappy 160 pounds for the last year or two. For a 5'7' frame alot of people think i look 'Okay' but what's really bothering me are my eating habits they aren't far from healthy, but i'd like to be more proactive about my health. Portion control is my main priority. My plans are to keep to a schedule that seems as natural as possible. I'm sure with regular exercise i can look and feel great :)

You do not need to make this transition difficult. You sound like you are ready for a lifestyle change. The easiest way for you to have accountibility with yourself is for you to write down everything that you eat. If it is written then it is real. It takes 30 days for a habit to form so this is something that you can do. Take one full week and weigh and measure your foods. Get a good feel for what a portion size is and the rest is not that difficult. I have now been doing this for 15 years. I am not a fanatic but it does get easier with time. Now a visual is all I need. If you were to break your meals up to a few a day then you will be grazing all day long and not be hungry. Don't for get your water with each meal and snack. Good luck to you and keep posting on how you are doing.
