I have thought about losing weight a few times, and attempted it a few times too. I joined a gym in january, was going everyday afterwork, then wifes gparent became sick and had to have surgury and I had to come home after work so I could be up with kid in mornings and that put me in a rut, tried to diet somewhat successful, did the mayo clinic(fad) diet, lost like 8 pounds in 2 weeks then come off diet because I was wore out. put the wight back on I am at 248 right now, I am 5'11 ish will be 30 yr old this year. I recently bought a Bell motivator indoor bike trainer and repaired an older bike to use on it, a 93 raleigh m30 mtn bike, going to get a computer for it to log miles etc. I have a Powertec Workbench that I really do not understand how to use, looking into a wall chart or similar from powertec. I had a spine surgury a little over a year ago and now is time to become healthy, I feel the stress of thinking about my health and my age is taking a toll on me, recently had to get a scrip for cholesterol, heartburn, and most recently a sleepaid to help sleep. I tink that i can get rid of all these with proper diet and excercize. I have a goal of being able to ride my bike on the Ohio to Erie bike path next year or equivalent distance. Possible do a triathalon etc. I want to be a new ME, with a alot of hard work and dedication I think that I can do it. In 2004 I quit smoking "cold turkey" I was at 210ish then went to 225ish then started working 2nd shift and and put on to 240 then with surgury I became less active and put on those last ten pounds. I feel motivated, invigorated, and most of all dedicated to losing weight. thank you for your support in advance.

Welcome!
You've come to the right place. Lot's of friendly advice and helpful people on the forum.
Check out the stickies for some great starting tips, and I'd recommend do a journel here as well as it's helped me in thinking about what I eat.
You'll get that weight off in no time!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

A friend shared something with me recently. She said, "If you can dream it, you can achieve it!" So i keep that saying in my mind and repeat it over and over to myself to remind me of my goals. Every time i want that snack, i remember that and think of my goals, and that helps me. But it drives my wife nuts to hear me saying that so often! LOL

GO FOR IT!!
