Howdy folks. Here's my weight story.
Since puberty, I've never been thin. I've never been really overweight either. Until I was about 24. I weighed in at 180 pounds (I'm 5'10" so that's a BMI of 25.8). I was "officially" overweight. It motivated me like nothing else. I dropped 20 pounds and felt AWESOME.
And then moved to New Orleans and proceeded to consume nothing but beer and fried food for a year. Then I quit my job and stressed for another year over where the next pay check was coming from. Oops, I got up to 207! That scared the you-know-what out of me - a BMI of 29.7 - just 0.3 away from officially obese.
So I said I was going to do it again. Well, that was two years ago. I did lose weight during the first year. I got down to maybe 185. But I've fluctuated between about 185 and 195 for a year now. At least I'm not gaining any more even though I'm not doing anything about it.
And now I'm REALLY going to try again. I have started having a bit of a pain in one of my knees and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot. Both are weight related. I also have no energy. And I'm getting married next spring! So, I have plenty of reasons to really get this done.
I've already started working out again and I'm trying to get my eating under control. I'm perfectly fine for breakfast and lunch but dinner and late snacks always get me. So far I'm just trying portion control as I already eat fairly healthy (lots of fruit and veggies, whole grains, etc.) but just too much of it!
Anyway, I'm glad to be here - I haven't finished looking around, but I'm sure this is a great place.
