Hey everyone!
Over the past couple of years I have had a dramatic weight gain and I am finally looking to lose the weight.

When I was in high school I was 200 lbs and a size 14, but I was very active and for the most part I was ok with my appearance. Well it's been two years and I've eaten my way to an overwhelming 275lbs and I'm now a size 22. I never ever thought that I would weigh as much as I do but I'm confident that with some discipline and maybe some support on here I can get all the weight off. Although I would be very happy to just get back down to 200lbs, I am looking to lose about 100 lbs. Unfortunately I don't have the money for a program like weight watchers but I also know that all it takes is portion control and exercise.

Luckily I'm still able to do most exercises regardless of my size but I was wondering if there is anything out there that people have had more success with. I've gotten a tae bo tape from my local library because I heard that this works pretty well. But I am open to suggestions and would love to find someone who is in the same boat I am so that maybe we can keep in touch and help each other out.

Good luck to everyone with your goals!

Welcome senorita! Good job for taking the first step to weight loss! It took a lot for me to realize I needed to do something about my weight. :)

I have had good experiences with Pilates so far, but a lot of my calorie burning takes place while i'm swimming. It does wonders for a workout. The good ol' treadmill has also done some good for me too.

Welcome to the forum senorita! Walking is also a great place to start. What are you planning food/calorie wise to get the weight off? Best of luck to you :).

Tae bo sounds good.

I'd love to give that a try myself so I may go about finding a link to order that tape you got.

In anycase what works for me so far is walking and the good old trusty stationary bike.

Also don't feel too overwhelmed by the amount of weight you have to lose.

The phrase "you get what you put in" is really so true.

All that weight can be off of you in 6 months or 8 with the right diet and exercise and not just a diet such as cutting back and depriving yourself no, but a lifestyle change diet that you can live with and not be starving with.

It seems you already know this which is good.

Yeah though to lose a lot of weight its not really as overwhelming as it seems.

If one is willing to put in the work its really only a matter of months to acheive your dreams and your goal.

If one isn't willing to put in the work they can suffer for years by stagnating and procrastinating.

Sure we all have bad days and miss our exercise due to work or screw up now and again and eat a bit too much but its getting back on the horse and pushing forward that saves us.

Hard work and making a true decision that we will stick to wins this race.

Remember fortune favors the bold and we who would make such decisions to win at the game of weight loss with hard work and never say die committment are the bold ones.

I will definitely be adding walks to my daily routine (hopefully one early morning and one evening) and I would also love to try pilates but I'm not sure that right now I have the flexibility for it. I will definitely look into finding a beginners tape for it though. I am also very very aware that losing this weight is not going to be easy but I just have to keep in mind that "slow and steady win the race"
I think the hardest part for me is going to be cutting back on my portion sizes. I love good food and above all pasta and breads :p Although I don't plan on completely cutting them out of my diet I do know that I need to cut back on them. I've also never been a big breakfast eater but I have already bought myself some oatmeal so I can start my day with something that I like and that is good for me. Hopefully doing little steps like these will pay off more in the long run than some fad diet. I guess only time will tell.

I had a problem with flexibility with Pilates at first too, but I kept doing it and eventually my body became conditioned for it. :)

Actually, the Richard Simmons workout tapes/dvds are great too. They are actually fun, and provide great music to keep your mind on while you are exercising. :p

I'm not much of a breakfast eater either, I still dont eat breakfast.

You will get the routine down eventually. Good luck! :)
