hey there,im new to this can someone explain to me what 'if u eat less calories than you use' means, does this mean if u burn more than you eat? so i calculated my daily calorie intake, and it was 2896, so does this mean if i wanted to lose 2kg a week, it wud be -1000 to that as 1kg u take off 500? so my calorie intake to lose 2 kg a week would be 1896 calories a day? is this correct

thanx!!!

Isn't 2kg about 4 pounds? If that's the case, it seems like a lot to try and lose consistently.

How much do you weigh, how tall are you, are you male or female, what's your activity level?

male, 5ft5 194 pounds which is bout 88.3kg and daily exercise is between light and moderate exercise and 24, 25 in April, andit wasnt 1892 a day, it was 792 to lose 2 kg a week, and 792 calories a day seems very easy for me to eat.

Is that all you eat, 792 calories - is that per day? How often do you eat that, and for how long have you been doing it?

no, thats the recomended calories to lose 2kg, and only just looked it up, and wud hopoe to start tomorow. where have i gone wrong?

Well, I wouldn't recommend to anyone to eat 792 calories a day. That is too low, and IMO not a healthy way to lose weight.

When your calories are too low, your body doesn't burn calories, it holds on to them because it thinks you're starving it. So the food you eat gets stored, even if it's too little. The other problem is that when you lose weight too fast, you lose muscle as well. That is not a good thing. Having more muscle will help you burn calories.

I *seriously* would not go under 1800 calories - and that's just a ball park figure. I'm sure there are others around here that will be able to explain this more clearly.

The goal here is to lose weight sensibly and keep it off - that's the point of changing our lifestyles.

i understand that very clearly, so whats the best online calorie calculator, and how much weight a week to lose for me on my statistics wud u recomend?

Have you checked out or ? They take all your information, and give you a nutritional range to work within. It might be a good starting point.

Ohh, and I just read what you wrote in the first post again...

If you need 2896 calories, you take off 500 calories per pound - not per kg. So to lose 1 pound you would need to consume 2396 calories each day (there abouts), to lose 2 pounds, you would consume 1896.

So, without being overly specific, I would try and keep my calories in the 1850-2350 range, less on days I didn't work out, more on days I did.

That's if 2896 is your daily requirement.

Again, there are others on this site that might be better suited to answering these questions for you.

well, those 2 sites were excellent! on the sparklepeole one, i cant seem to find where u put in what foods and drinks uve had for the day, only see their meal planner, wheres where i enter what i had? and btw, Thanx!

When I go to sparkpeople I click on Meal Planner and it takes me to a daily page where I input my nutrition totals - there's also a page for fitness

well i cant seem to save anything in sparklepeople planner thing on the meal planner bit,so when leave the page, it dont save it, i lose everything i put in, so how do i save it?
