Questions about weight loss

Hi everyone ,

I just have questions about flabby/loose/sagging skin.

I have a friend who weighed 320, she is now 215 all on Atkins. She has a lot of flabby skin especially on her arms and mid-section. I am not sure if she has that problem because she focused on Atkins or if she would have had it regardless of the exercise activity.

I want to lose about 60-100 lbs or at least get to a 30 inch waist, I plan to lose weight by weight training 3 times a week and cardio 5 days a week.

I am trying to see if anyone out there has lost a significant weight and if so did you have a problem with lose skin.

Can loose skin be preventable with weight loss?

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks so much,

i have seen it go both ways.. it seems that if you just focus on losing weight, but don't focus on exercise, that's when you end up getting flabby...

that's what i notice with me... years ago i lost weight w/exercise and i had absolutely no flab on me. this round, i was losing weight w/no exercise and boy is that a mistake... my arms jiggle jiggle jiggle... but i am different... i want to say it's middle age, but i have a friend in her 40's who has the best arms i have ever seen, and she has absolutely no flab on her body. she has been doing hot yoga....

Think I heard once that to prevent the loose skin when you have a lot of weight to lose you kind of have to try and not lose more than 3lbs per week as doing it that way gives the skin a chance to recover and change with your body.

Everyone is different though and some people can lose a lot quickly with no ill skin side effects.

Anyway for those that do have the loose skin after losing all the weight there is the option of surgery to remove the excess skin but of course you need to be on pain pills for a while after that.

I can vouch that you guys are all wrong. I lost weight at less than 3lb a week and kept up a rigourous weight lifing and cardio workouts. I have lost 140ish so far and yes i have saggy skin.

Basicly you wait, if it goes away after a year you're lucky. If its damaged (ie stretch marks etc) then it wont, you will need surgery. Im pretty sure A lot of mine will eventually go away after a year so im happy to wait. What doesnt I most definatly will get surgery for :)

Try reading this article about it.

Yes unfortunately I have the same problem and I was 22 years old when I lost the weight. I lost 100lbs by the end of last year [over the course of around 10 months], with plenty of cardio and strength exercises, and a healthy diet with plenty of calories [2000-2500].

My skin is loose and sags in places, noticeable particularly on my thighs when I am sat down, my upper arms hang and are a bit jelly like, and my stomach is stretchy and moves around a lot, and hangs down.

I don't intend to get the surgery as I have no reason to. My girlfriend has no problem with it, and although I don't like it much, I see it as being better than all the fat that was there before. I did used to intend on getting the surgery, but now I don't want to go through surgery I don't actually need, but thats just me. I just wish I was never fat in the first place, but I'm very happy now.

Hope this information helps someone at least!!

Mike.

Hi guys,

Anyone heard of the Jon Gabriel Method, he lost tons of weight with no sags?

A huge part of his training is listening to a cd that comes with the book, which you listen to as you go to sleep, visualizing the body you want. Check it out, the trick is in the visualizing...and when you see how he looks, it's amazing!

Sagging skin was a huge concern for me, especially needing to lose over 100lbs, myself. I'm on a plan that promotes skin elasticity and my friend, overweight for 60+ years and lost over 100lbs, is just one of the people I know personally who have proved it. : ) I'm almost grateful Atkins (or anything else) never worked and I spent 17 years with this battle because otherwise I would not have found my current plan and avoided the skin issue altogether! There's finding the silver lining for you! Lol. Blessings to all. : )
