Questions about Diaries

I started a diary. Each time I add to the post I do so as a reply. The diary moves to the top but it uses the title from the first post instead of the current post. It seems everyone else's shows the current title each time they post to their diary. What am I doing wrong?

Also, when you open a post, such as a diary, it shows the oldest first. Sometimes there are hundreds of messages that go back years and you have to go a long way to get to the current posts. Is there a way to change it to show the newest posts at the top?

Your replies are showing the titles you gave them.

It is normal for the title you used for the first post to become the title for the entire thread/diary. That title can be modified by going back to the first post and changing it there. Most people don't change this, because we all use the titles to help us find the thread/diary we've looked at before.

I don't think you can reverse the order in which the posts are seen - it's not like a blog. However, if you are looking at the lists of diaries in the index, or looking at New Posts, you can go directly to the last post by clicking on the arrow next to the name of the last person who posted in the diary.
 
In your options (user control panel - edit options), you can change how you view threads from Oldest at the top, or newest at the top - -but honestly -just go to the end of the thread and you'll see the newest posts...
 
Yep. Sorry about the mis-steer, Susan. I just came back on-line because I was wondering about CP options.

I like your question because it made me bother to check Display Mode at the top of the thread, and I can see that Hybrid Mode would be really handy for searching a long thread for an older post (which I have often done.) Probably I will forget about it again before I need to use it though. :D

I changed the option in User CP/Edit Option to show the Thread Display Mode to "Linear - Newest First" and it's great now. Makes sense to me to show the newest first. I think I have a better understanding of how the diaries work now too. Thanks for the help!
 
Hi, I'm brand new and having trouble even finding where I'm supposed to start my own diary. Where do I do that? Thanks for your help!
