Question Concerning Compound/Isolation Exercises

I have a question for that I would love answered. I am currently doing FBW 3 x per week and i'm sticking to mostly compound exercises. By doing lat pulldowns, for example, would I be working my biceps just as hard as an isolation exercise for them or should i add in the isolation exercise at the end of workout. But i usually run out of time. This applies to other muscles, for instance triceps. I do bench press and is that working them enough. I want to get nice big strong arms and just curious about this.

This is a question people will fight over until the end of time. I have slowly come around to believing that if you do a good, thorough routine with all compounds there is no need for isos...

p.s. Try pull ups instead of pull downs
 
Will pull ups help to give you bigger arms? Yes. Will they give you that nice bi peak? Probably not. ( unless you have good genetics )

sure compounds will put some mass on there. but to get that peak and put in the details iso's are necessary.
 
Thanks for the replies! I'll try pull ups and see how that goes even though I know that I will only be able to do around 2-3 at most. But I'll just have to work on it to increase the number of reps over time. Thanks again for the answer to the question about compounds. I'll try to add isolations for those muscles I would like to work more at the end of my workout if I get some free time.
 
I see iso's are for people who are wanting the good body look (e.g. body builders) So they can get that muscle to perfection.

On the other hand, like olympic/powerlifters it is not essential to do iso's as the majority are focused of strength.
 
There's nothing wrong with doing Iso's, so long as it's not at the expense of your compounds. Iso's can help a lot when you start out, for example, if your weak point when you bench is your triceps you could add in tricep pulldowns at the end of the training session to give them extra attention and bring them up to speed
