both are good options. If you wanna to lose weight, running (I suggest sprinting) is your right choice. But if you wanna build muscle, weight lifting is your right choice. And for a good health, good weight and nice body, both of them are the best :hurray:

yea what im saying is can you weight lift and still lose weight?

and when will the muscles start showing?

A really good thing for you to do would be to read the stickies in this forum. This question has been answered pretty much daily since 1935.

To answer it again though, building muscle, for all intents and purposes, requires a caloric surplus. A diet requires a caloric deficit.

Can you see the flaw in your logic?

Weight lifting should be used while dieting to:

i) derive the health benefits it offers
ii) maintain the muscle you currently have so that when the fat is gone, you look good

This isn't to say building muscle while dieting is impossible. In fact, many have seen some muscle gain while dieting given that they were fat and/or a complete novice. But that is short-lived for the most part and doesn't lead to anything appreciable in terms of muscle development.

And the advice about sprinting above is just silly given the poster knows nothing about you.

If your goal is to lose fat, diet and cardio are key, so running is definitely a good option.

If your goal is to get muscular, weight training is necessary, but, once you've worked out and have these amazingly strong and sculpted muscles, you'll need a healthy diet and cardio activity to make those muscles visible from underneath the layer of fat they may be hidden under.

Running AND Weightlifting (as well as a healthy nutrition plan) is the best option :)
