Question about strength training and weight loss

I was reading through a lot of forum posts and came upon this quote by Steve
Glad to hear you learned the "truth" about strength training and its role on body recomposition. It's a hard lesson to learn, but it's a good one.
Now I know that strength training needs to go right along with the cardio and eating healthy, but what exactly is the 'truth' you speak of?

I know this is an old quote, but it really caught my attention.
