question about sore legs

I've been to curves twice, first time thursday and my legs were a little sore the next day. then friday i had a huge liquor order at my store so it was about 6 hours straight of bending, squatting, lifting and so on.. so today (saturday) i went to curves again. i can walk but my legs are sore and walking up/down stairs are when my legs REALLY feel sore.

anyway, the trainers still pushed me to do my best but i heard if you keep working out with sore muscles then you can do damage.
did i ruin my legs or anything? i heard i could do some serious damage this way.

No you haven't ruined your legs, you have DOMS which comes from a combination of micro tears in the muscles which is a good thing as the muscle will rebuild stronger than it was before. The other cause of the pain is a build up of waste products in the muscles left over from your workout.

after training it helps if you have a contrast shower (Alternate hot/cold 3-4 times), massage is also good but only if your sure you haven't picked up an actual injury.

it will take you a short time to adapt but as your body adapts to the exercise DOMS becomes less of a problem.

DOMS means Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness
