Question About Drop Sets

When doing drop sets, should I do the first weight twice (which is the heaviest obviously), and then do 2 sets after that dropping the weight after each set, or should i just do the heaviest weight once and drop the weight after all 4 of the sets?

I think drop sets are supposed to be from heavy to low in one set. Like 50lbs, then 40lbs, then 30lbs.. all within the same set rather than 50 - 50 - 50, 40 - 40 - 40, etc.

EX:
50lbs - 40 lbs - 30 lbs - etc.. usually 3 different levels is enough.. rest very little between the weight changes (10sec)
rest
repeat for however many sets.

There is no set way to do it. But technically, the second set wouldn't be considered a dropset if you didn't lower the weight.

BTW, where ya been?

Drop sets are awesome, you feel a nice burn when doing those, it's a good way to push through plateaus sometimes because it hits your muscle fibers some more. Usually I'll only do two total sets, both being drop sets. That may be all you need.

Yeah technically it wouldn't, it just seems like another set of the heaviest weight and then dropping the weight would seem more beneficial.

School man. Takes up so much of my time i hardly do anything else. But i do still workout, i just started doing one muscle group a day and lifting very heavy, and i'm makin some great gains.

I like to mix up the drop sets with ascending and descending pyramids and also some true pyramids, yeah definately drop the weight everytime.

What rep ranges are you doing just out of interest?

I usually do around 5 the first set, around 7 the 2nd and 3rd set, and i do the last set til failure, which is usually 10-12.
