Question about diet

Hey everyone, I have a question about two different eating habits I usually fall into...
I can usually either go all day without eating and then have a large (est. 1000 calorie) meal near the end of the night or eat little meals through-out the entire day and end up with around 1600 calories.

Anyone know which one of these would be better to lose weight? The second one has more calories but raise metabolism...

(I work out and bicycle regularly)

1000 kcal is too little no matter how you look at it ^^; especially if exercising.

now I find I prefer eating 300 kcal breakfast, 300 lunch, 500 dinner and 2 snacks for total of 1300-400 kcal a day.. because I can't go long without food, I feel tired and snappy.
I dont think the effect on metabolism is significant and doubt it makes much difference anyway, calories are calories afterall.
