Question about calories

I'm 17, I weight 79kg(dropped 2kgs in a week) and my height is 177cm. I started doing Insanity and I calculated that my body needs about 3300 to 3500 kcal per day. That's pretty high number but I'm a teenager so that's why it's so high.
Now I'm on a strict diet and I eat 1600 to 1800 kcal per day, which is almost double less that my body needs. BeachBody Team recommends that people should have 500 kcal less that they need to lose weight and you should eat no less than 1300 kcal per day.
My question is: is it right for me to eat such low amount of calories? I mean, will it fasten my fat loss or will I damage my health?

Dude, really. Stop doing this. I hoped that I had received the response and all I got was your stupid message.

Still, back on topic. Any reasonable opinions?

Nobody ever reported that spammer, so the mods didn't know to boot him. That is done now.

Lee, what the heck is "Insanity"?
There is NOTHING right about cutting your calorie needs in half!

3300-3500 seems rather high, as you are my height, younger, and lighter (but I have fat to lose)

I would guesstimate your caloric maintenance needs are more like 2,500 to 2,800 a day since you are a growing boy.

Cutting to 1600 calories a day is going to destroy lean muscle tissue first, then tap into fat for energy.

Why?

because extra muscle mass is NOT an advantage from an evolutionary standpoint. it takes more calories, slows you down, the heart beats a little harder, etc.

Stored fat on the other hand, keeps us alive when food is scarce.

so when you need 2500 calories and you only eat 1600, the body things food is scarce, and holds on to the fat and burns muscle tissue for energy.

Insanity is the product from the Beach Body. Still, will it reduce my lean muscle mass if I get enough protein for them?
