Question about burning calories

Hi Everyone, I'm new here so want to say hello!

I've been trying to lose weight now for a week but I'm still not sure on this question so I'm hoping you guys can help me.

If I was to burn 1,000 calories before dinner and then had 500 calories in food for dinner, would I have to burn off the 500 calories from dinner? Or because I burned off more earlier in the day I wouldn't have to?

I'm struggling to understand it

It all comes down to total calories consumed and used. Whether you burn 1000 calories before you eat and another 1000 after you eat, eat them all before you burn them, or burn them all before you eat them doesn't matter. If you burn 2000 calories per 24 hours (on average) and eat 2000 calories per 24 hours (on average) your weight will remain stable.
