Push Ups

Is It Alright To Do Push Ups Everyday If You Also Go To The Gym Three Times A Week And Lift

Within my weight training, I implement a routine I call "FreeForm" in varying ways and degrees: One of its implementations is when I rest between sets, and let's use the Bench Press as an example:

If I set a 2 minute rest period between sets (on moderate rep ranges), I will wait half (or 1 minute), and then push out as many pushups until failure, and then rest the remaining seconds, and then push out the next set of the Bench Press, repeat. I do them on a progressive scale as I would the Bench Press, though without wgt on the Pushups.

So on a Bench Press with 3 sets, I may have two sets of "FreeForm" in between sets at the one minute mark.

Sometimes I used Dips instead or I may exchange it (Pushups first and then Dips the next). This is important to me (since I am going to the academy soon for a PT test).

However, this has assisted in pushing me past sticking points (done in varying ways), and has lead to being able to do 82 nonstop pushups (and I like the feeling that endurance tends to give, at least personally). So, to me they have their place dependent on the nature and circumference of one's personal goal.

However, to compare pushup benefit compared to weight training benefit is like comparing an apple to cucumber.

Who told you that ?

I don't remember names but I heard it on here before and read it in books and magazines.I might have the number wrong, but hypertropy is more diet than lifting. After my bulk I can say its easier to lift heavy than it is to eat more food than you need, especially in the beginning.

Diet is "Definately" related to growth, but without weight training stimulus, what reason (for a mature adult) does the body have to grow more muscle?

On the flip side: If in deficit diet (where the body basically feeds on it self for a source of fuel) what reason does the body have to maintain or attempt to maintain muscle without weight training stimulus? Diet is definately a main contributor (and at times a deciding factor), there is no doubt, but not the only one in the "overall" equation.

^^true.I know that, but I look at it like this, if you're in a surplus of calories and not lifting, you're body is still gonna grow.So diet is what makes you grow, lifting just decides how.
