Punching my stomach sort of flattened it fast.

Been eating and drinking too much in the last months dealing with depression but lately I want to get in shape fast so I thought I would try this, once someone told me that punching yourself in the stomach really helps conditioning the abdomen area. So for about 10 days I've been punching myself a lot with the left hand wrapped in a thick cloth (New Member so link removed) while watching television, there's no harm and I see a significant difference. I eat normally, I've been running but not too much and not too fast.

IMHO punching yourself probably you tighten your abs to soften the blow? SOO doing regular situps could achieve the same results? eh

that's the weirdest thing i've ever heard...

I'm sure if you're overweight the layers of fat are protecting your innards but that cant be healthy.

NONETHELESS the best way to flatten your stomach is to get rid of the fat covering the muscle through exercise, so im sure that punching yourself isn't going to work very long and you'll probably benefit more from regular exercise..

just my two cents.

wow..sorry but hell no. This sounds more like a self esteem problem than trying to lose weight.

put two ant two together..

Battling Depression + Punching yourself to feel (or in your mind look) better = Please see someone for professional help.

Find someone to talk to.

Boxers strengthen abs in a similar fashion. Not hitting themselves though, theats their trainers job.

Jericho is screwed up. Just wanted to share the info, this had real effects, everyone noticed it. If anyone is interested, I can take naked photos tomorrow from different angles and after a week.

Thing is this can be done for hours.

When you are taking a punch to the stomach you contract your abdominal muscles (this is a technique we learned for cuing people to engage their core - not actually punching them in the stomach but the visual works). So by contracting your abs when you are 'punching' yourself, you will work the abdominal muscles but I wouldn't actually recommend doing it as an exercise for an average person who is not a boxer. Also for fat loss you will need to eat healthy and develop an exercise habit.

I don't think we should be suggesting punching ourselves in the gut for weight loss.

You also didn't say anything about what you have been eating for your weight loss.

Is that why the boxers in the old day used to throw medicine balls at each other's stomachs?
(besides arms strength, obvious)

Yeah. Still do. Can't imagine it would work for weight loss but for ab strength it's tried and tested. 95% of people don't have visible abs.
