Pulled muscle or something else?

Ok so last monday I went to the gym and worked out. I never felt like anything happened while working out but that evening I started to have pain on my left side...like around the back of my side at the bottom of my ribcage.

How exactly it feels....
like pressure. when I pull my abs in it hurts on the left side there. i can't lie on my left side because it puts pressure on it. whe I lie on the exercise ball to do crunches it really puts pressure on it. when i press the area it about takes my breath away. it is sooo tender.

so I'm wondering do you think its a pulled muscle or something else?

If it's a pulled muscle I'm wondering how long before it gets better and what can I do to help it get better faster?

So you've been in pain for a week?

has it gotten better or worse?

are you still working out?

if yes - Why not lay off working out for a few days and see if it gets better

yes it has been like this for a week

it hasn't gotten better but it hasn't really gotten any worse

I haven't worked out since wednesday

it's been 4 days with no working out but no improvement...I have no idea if it were a pulled muscle in this area how long it would take to heal. or if i should be having it checked to see if it's a problem with whatever organ may be there.
 
If you've given it a few days of rest and are not seeing an improvement a trip to the doctor couldn't hurt...


Does deep breathing make a difference in it?

it's been too long since I had biology and what organs are where... I doubt it's organ related but if it's a muscle in your abdominals -sometomes deeper breathing can make the pain worse
 
well it's been 2 full weeks going on 3 weeks of having this pain in my left lower back side and it still hasnt gone away. It hurts the most when I'm lying down if I put pressure on that area or if I roll onto that side.

I figured if it were a pulled muscle it would take some time to heal...how long I'm not sure but I thought I would have seen some improvement by now. I haven't so I'm making an appt. to see my dr.
