Protein smoothie as a meal?

On my way out of the gym tomorrow morning, I was thinking of picking up a Banana Bomb protein smoothie (skim milk, banana, vanilla whey protein (45g)) as my breakfast.

I'm looking to consume about 300-400 cals per meal.

What do you guys think about that? Is it healthy to have that as a breakfast?>

no.

If your looking to loose weight then its ok to have as a meal late at night. That way you dont have claories in ur belly turning to fat in the night.

But you need carbs in the morning to keep you alive.

Even if ur trying to loose fat, you still need a good breakfast with plenty for carbs.

I think that smoothie is just fine for breakfast. Bananas have lots of carbs. Also, if you were to make it yourself, you could add oats to it. Really good.:)

The only thing is, the way they make it, the whey protein itself is about 400 calories for 45 grams....or so the guy told me. That's without the banana and skim milk!

My meals are only supposed to be around 300-350 cals total, so I think I'm going to make my own at home when I get back.

Christa - sorry girl but I gotta disagree very strongly woth that. You need to eat a good breakfast to start up your digestive system, get your bowls moving and get the energy you need for the day. Maybe if you just sit about all day you caould get away with it, but anybody who is going to the gym early needs the energy.

Plus the carbs in bananas are not as slow burning as wholemeal breads. Tho its is a good idea to have a banana but mainly for the potasium.

is it ok to have 3 protein shakes a day, or is that to much?? ...and if it is ok should i use a full scoop (32g) of powder for each shake or less??

ex. 1 after first work out
1 after 2nd workout
and one before bed

gags - This is a quick fix for you. Your trying to funk up your body in the shortest time possible. You have to adapt the body slowly so you can gradualy loose weight and end up healthy. Plus, its easyer, more fun, less painfull and less stressful.

The way your doing it, as soon as you stop this hurtfull program you will gain weight very quickly.

Dont train for fat loss and be unhealthy. Train for health and loose fat on the way.

I'm sorry. This is my first time ever dieting/working out where I've followed through. I've tried it in the past, and I never had the discipline for more than a week. I've been going for over a month now, and I'm so happy I guess I'm just overzealous.

this is what I'd do....

have a bowl of oatmeal. maybe fruit on the side as well. maybe throw in an egg or some sausages...or YES WE ALL KNOW IT , COTTAGE CHEESE!!! if you can challenge the taste.

wait for an hour n a half then go to the gym. after that , have your protein shake.

I can't be waiting that long though, I need something quick or on the go. What about a banana or an apple? or some sort of fruit?
