Protein Bars

I'm new here, so forgive me if this has already been asked before.

I'm trying to get back in shape. I've started weight lifting again, but I know that weight lifting alone isn't going to help me much. I need the proper nutrition. The problem is I'm lucky if I get a chance to eat two meals a day. I'm on the go alot. Protein bars have worked for me in the past. The only problem I have with them is that they can get to be expensive, which leads me to this question: Which protein bar has the best bang for the buck?

Metrx Protein Plus are good quality bars but are a little pricy. Detour bars are a little less expensive. Be careful, I have seen Detour bars in retail stores that are half size, but full price. You can tell by the protein content. the full size bars have 30-32 grams of protein, the half size ones have only 15 grams. I think you can only get the full size Detour bars in a health club or on line, all the ones I've seen in Walmart and BJ's ar the half size ones. Shop around on the internet and you can find 12 bar cases for 19.99 plus shipping.

I don't carry a credit card, so the only place I shop online is ebay. There's a GNC in my area. I've been thinking about stopping in there sometime...

I’ve seen homemade recipes for protein bars over on the mens health forums. Go check it out. its basically oatmeal , protein powder, and other things.

i went to gnc and got a bar called Detour, it takes very close to snickers IMO. a box can run about 20 from gnc and they let you mix bars so you wont have a box of the same thing.

i was an idiot...
everyday after school i used to go to 7/11 to buy a detour bar for 2.99 for like 1 yr.....
wit all that money i could of got nitrotech for less

i suggest not relying on protein bars everyday. they're great when you're in a bind but not as part of a daily diet.

take the time to make your own as was suggested. other quick ideas are pop top tuna or chicken, beef jerky, fruits, nuts and sandwiches. you can also grind up some oats, put them in a shaker cup with some protein powder then when you need it, add water and shake.
