Hello there everyone. :coolgleamA:
My names Dan, 19 years old and I'm from the UK.
My height is 5'10 or 5'11.
Start Weight: 224lb

I used to be about 240-245lb when I was about 15-16 years old but I went to the gym alot for a couple of months and dropped to 225lb and I have maintained that since. It's time to lose more.

I'm not going to be following a specific diet plan as they have failed so much for me in the past. I just want to change my lifestyle food/exercise wise. I'm going to completly cut out all fizzy drinks, junk food and also try to do atleast some form of excercise every day. I work in the town centre, which is a 20-30min walk from my house. 5 nights a week after college. I try and walk to and from work atleast 2-3 of those 5 nights as well as excercise at home and going running ect.

My start weight is 224lb, which is 16 stone.
I wish to get down to about 200-203 which is 14 and a half stone, or less. But I'd be happy at that weight.
I don't have that much of a way to go, so I hope I can do it.

I have some weights and an excercise bike, - I will use those but I wan't to start running aswell.

START WEIGHT 225LB - Current
MINI GOAL 1 - 220 (Working on it!!!)
MINI GOAL 2 - 215 (Unachieved)
MINI GOAL 3 - 210 (Unachieved)
MINI GOAL 4 - 205 (Unachieved)
HUGE ACHIEVEMENT - 200LB (Unachieved)

Today has gone REALLY well considering I have been ill.

Date: 1st June 09 (day1)

7AM - Breakfast: Cereal with fruit in it
12.00 - Lunch: Fishfingers with beans
19.00 - Tuna salad thing I brought at the shop (200 or something cal)
20.15 - Tea: Yoghurt + Protien Shake

21.00 - This evening I did 25-30Min of the P90X Cardio section.

I had 2-3 cupa of tea during the day, I normally have 2 sugars but I had 0 in all of them!

I didnt feel hungry, I think I should have eaten more today to be honest even though I didn't feel I need to.
I did drink a fair amount of water too.

Date : 2nd June 09 (day2)

Today has gone well again.

07.00AM - Cereal
11.00 - Chicken Salad sandwich
13.30 - Pasta, Sweetcorn, Ham, Bit of salad cream in it + Protien shake
20.30 - Yoghurt

I did another 20min workout with P90X today and walked to and from work.
 
Date: 3rd June 09, (day3)

Today has gone well today although I could have gotten something healthier I suppose.

09.30 - Cereal
13.45 - Jacket Potato (Oven) (No Filling/Topping) with Beef and Gravey (is gravey really bad??)
18.10 - Jacket Potato with beans
Upcoming 23.45 - Going to do a P90X workout or go for a quick jog, after I have a protien shake.

Am I doing ok guys? Would be great to see a reply sometime but I won't nag :)

Hey Dan, how are you!

Great diary, you seem to be doing really well! I like the idea of the lifestyle change rarther than following a limited set diet that is only designed to be followed for a set amount of time. I think thats where I fail too.

Where did you get the p90x dvd from, I really want it but can't find it here on the UK!

Hey there :) I'm good thankyou, just doing some weights and stuff.
Yea I really like the idea of just changing how I look/feel about food and excercise. To be honest I got it downloaded for me by a friend because I'm a student and theres no way I can afford it. Tut tut :)

congrats on deciding to change your lifestyle to eat better and exercise more!

Just having a quick look at your numbers and your food.. and I don't think you are eating enough.

Based on the info supplied, you should be eating about 2300 cals per day (to lose 1kg or 2.2 pounds per week) your maintainance calories are 3400 or there abouts.

It also seems like you are skipping dinner or having next to nothing.. which is not good for your body, missing meals actually has the reverse affect, in that your body can go into "survival" mode where your metabolism slows right down, and you actually store more fat as your body thinks times are tough and it needs to do so.


If you don't know how many calories you are eating.. register to a free site like and log all your foods.. this will give you a much better idea of what you need to do.

Today has gone ok

08.00 - Full english breakfast (Sausage, Egg, Beans, Bacon) - Needed this cause I had an exam today and I needed my strength and energy.

16.00 - Prawn Sandwich
17.00 - Grapes
18.00 - Chicken & Pasta
Done.
