Poor....poor.....bunny..........

Rotties can also be herding dogs, and will round up a few kids like nobody's business :D

My sister's rottie used to hold kids in a room by running after them and herding them into the room, and then blocking the doorway :)

I wouldn't call rotties "prey" dogs. They're your basic guard dog/total suck face, like most other guard dogs (dual personality!).

I think the issues this girl has can be fixed. She just had a bad start.

Good for you GotFit for rescuing her!!! She'll probably end up being the best of the bunch once you've reprogrammed her ;)

It does seem unusual for a rottie to he a strong prey drive, but it could be a throwback from one of the breeds that went into the creation of rotties.

I know what you mean, my dobies couldn't care less about squirrels, rabbits etc

The first guard dog we got was a Dobe. She was the sweetest dog on the planet, and I loved her so much. She has ZERO prey instinct. She just guarded. She was my bestest buddy :)

Unfortunately, I was horribly allergic to her :(

you're right...its more of a man's inability to say "no" to a hot woman. ;)

Naw ... it's got nothing to do with being hot.

I think it's the way I ask. I always make sure the guy doesn't feel pressured and that he is entitled to use every weaselling out clause in the book. For me, the bottom line is he has to do it because HE really wants to, not because I've forced him to do it, or he feels obligated to do it. That's just wrong.

I don't want it if he doesn't want to do it. You know what I mean? If a guy is into a girl, he'll do those things willingly, just like when a girl likes a guy, she'll willingly do lots of nice things, too :)

If a dog has strong prey drive it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to control

It can be, but I'm hoping for the best. Rotties usually aren't predatory, at least I haven't come across ANY who were cared for by their owners. They are hearding dogs by nature.

But being that the previous owners knew NOTHING about Rotties and didn't take the time to train her, it isn't a surprise that she found things to do...like kill other animals....

A few of mine were really good at rounding up the kids! LOL! Did the blocking and rounding routine many times....also would NEVER let ANYONE get near my kids...period. Rottie can be so funny.

Her best attribute is her protective manner. She is a great dog that got a bad start as you said, and we are SLOWLY turning her around. We got a lat start at it as all my other rottie rescues were around the age of 6 months. Her being 18 months was a real disadvantage.

anyway, thanks for the go girl...lol We are trying

and by the way, went and got her a big ass bone to work with her! lol
