I have had 3 children and lost weight after the first 2. The 3rd was a bit harder as I was on bedrest for 50 days and gained soooo much weight. He was born 26 weeks premature and I had major back surgery soon after. :smash: I loved poloties (sp) and yogu and now can not do that due to the suergry.I hate, hate being FAT...I weight 210lbs and before all this I wieghted 140lbs. I have tried every weight loss drug out there, over the counter and R/X nothing seems to last...I attempt to work out and am so tied! I really need help and support. This is my last resort...someone, anyone out there...I need you!

There are no drugs and no Rx that can help lose weight -- but there are simple food rules that can.

Remember that eating too much sugar (whether it's in obvious things like candy and cakes, or the less obvious like white bread and rice, and fruit drinks) will make you tired so you have to cut ALL of those out. Even diet drinks may contribute to this. If you need something sweet, eat some fruit (real fruit, not a drink or dried stuff).

Even with back problems you can work out -- I had major back surgery as well, two decades ago when they didn't have micro surgery and such, and I lift heavy weights three days a week. You need to exercise smart, though, and there are many things you can do to help strengthen the muscles you have left. You might want to visit a sports clinic or gym that has experts to help you (or do the research online), but for simple advice the first thing you need do is strengthen your core. Start with planks (Google) -- even my wife who has two auto immune diseases that affect her muscles can do them -- and once you can hold 3 sets for 60 seconds you will be strong enough to do things like squats (which will actually *help* your back) and other strength training moves.

Once you've built up your core again you'll be able to do pilates, trust me (with my bad back I can play tennis vigorously four times a week because I've built up the muscles that help support it now -- after my surgery I couldn't even walk for years until I started these programs).

And in the meantime review your diet and start eating healthy -- all of that combined with a good program to get you back in shape will get that weight off of you in record time. Good luck and stick with it!

You just need to develop healthy habits. You need to change your lifestyle.

There is no "last resort". You should continue to try and become healthy for at long as you're alive. There is no reason to stop and accept being unhealthy just because you've tried more than a few things and they have yet to work.

It because they are not supposed to work. You are supposed to work. Work at developing healthier eating habits. Work at slow and non-impact exercise to start (as long as your doctor approves). Work at taking in recommended amounts of water. Work at learning about true health and wellness from legitimate sources.

What you possibly need is motivation and determination. You're going to need to develop this for yourself and solidify your goals. But we do have a section here on the forum with a thread called Motivational Sayings and/or Affirmations. Cate usually post one daily. Go here for a quick boost if that helps you.

But honestly, you have to be able to do it yourself. That's the only way that you can improve and for the improvements to last.

^_^ Hope to hear any updates from you love.

Try something really simple to start with. Write down every single thing you put into your mouth for a week. Everything, down to the last mouthful. Then compare that to nutritional guidelines where you're from, and see how it adds up. Make healthy changes- one step at a time if needs be (so if you're not having any fruit and vegetables- just an example- try to eat at least one serve of fruit and vegetables a day. Then move up to two. Or if you're drinking 6 cans of Pepsi a day, cut to 5, then 4), although depending on how unhealthy your habits are you may want to change them faster. You don't want to make too radical changes beacuse you won't find them sustainable. Find healthy foods that you enjoy eating, and incorporate them more into your diet. I've heard a lot of people see weight loss just by making those kinds of changes.

But that may not be enough for you (it wasn't for me). If it isn't, then you need to start thinking about your calorie intake. Find a BMR calculator that accounts for activity (like this one: ) and put in your details. Work out how many calories you need a day to maintain your weight and to lose a healthy amount of weight (between 1-2lb, or up to 1kg- 2.2lb- a week). Then have a look at what you're eating and how it adds up. Just having an awareness of the calories in things will help. (I'm a full-on calorie counter- I weigh all my food and record it in a calorie counting program, but most people think that's over the top. It's working for me, but most people don't want to put in the effort- but I'm sure even knowing how many calories are in certain things will help you make smarter choices)

And I'll stress what's already been said above. Weight loss drugs don't work. Unfortunately it's all about calories in/ calories out. (Although if these things don't work- give them at least a couple of weeks if not a month to start working- maybe it's worthwhile talking to your doctor to see if you have a medical condition that might contribute to weight gain)
