Please Help, Why Is This Happening?

I started a few weeks ago with a new diet and exercise routine and am getting very fustrated. I am very overweight(237lbs- 5'2") and I should be losing weight a little faster in the beginning versus someone thinner, but I am not. I am eating very well, lean protein, veggies....lots of water. I am also exercising by doing my stationary bike 30 mins. 4 times a week, Walking 1 hour everyday, and also doing some lunges/squats and arm exercises with weights. I lost a couple pounds at first within the first week which was probably mostly water weight. But now I'm going the opposite weight. I started out at 241, went to 236.5 and then now I'm back to 239lbs. I weigh myself at the same time (first thing in the morning). What is going on? I know most people are going to say that its muscle, but is that true, could I be gaining that much muscle in just what im doing? I also haven't noticed any inches lost either. Should I be taking a day off, I haven't taken a day off since I started and wonder if that could have an effect. Please let me know your advice and what i can do. It's fustrating because you see people my weight and there dropping weight like nothing, why am I not.

Random water weight fluctuation gets my vote - assuming you're a girl, my first suspicion would be it's hormone-related. If you don't see any downward movement in the scale in another 2-3 weeks, then I'd change my vote to "eating too many calories."

What exactly are you eating [I know you said veggies and lean protein] but exactly what and how much a day are you eating it?

Its not uncommon to not see movement on the scale for the first month to 2months. When I first lost 50lbs [when I was 17] I stayed around the same weight for the first 2months and than it just started dropping off. You have to be patient. Your metabolism has to get into gear and start burning. Its not going to happen overnight or even a few days or weeks. Don't worry it will happen though. I would like to suggest that you don't weigh yourself everyday or every other day for that matter because it only ends up in frustration. I weigh myself once a month. I know that I to would also get frustrated not seeing any weight changes everyday so instead I stick with once a month and feel better seeing a better number on the scale. Try it out... you will feel better and keep doing what your doing... like I said.. Patience!
