Hello

I'm new here, and just starting a two month weight loss program. The following is the number of calories I am supoosed to take in each day, followed by the number of calories I actually took in. I have done great for the most part, but have two days that I went over (one was WAY over).

Am I in big trouble here because of what happened over the weekend? Or did my really good days make up for it. Trying to see just how bad that cheat spell really was to my overall progress. I have not weighed myself and will not until the first two weeks is up.

What do you think?

Hi it is looking fine except the super low cals the first day...I think the good out weights the bad, you were good enough most of the days and only had two bad days, just remeber every day is a new day...

When your cals are too low, you are depriving your body. Your body starts to panic and so you begin to crave food, lots of it, and bad food usually. Which is probably why you ended up with a very high day after several very low days.

May I ask how you came up with your goal calorie figures? They are very specific! And they look about right, depending on your current weight, but you should probably set yourself a minimum calorie limit for each day too, which will help prevent overeating in the long run. don't think of it as "how few calories can I eat today" but "I want to nourish and not deprive my body, while keeping a calorie deficit!"

Eg my calories I try to keep between 1200 and 1500 per day. Usually averaging 1300-1400. It is best to be consistent!!

I agree with Cinderelly, your good outweighs your bad, but just remember very low calories does not necesarily equal good!!

Hope some of this has been helpful, and good luck!!

Kez :)

Thanks very much.

Actually, the low calorie days included calories burned by exercise. I actually ingested more than you see, but I exercise every day. So the total includes calories taken in minus calories burned. I'm using an online exercise calorie calculator to see how much I burn depending on what activity I do.

My body only goes into starvation mode when I take in less, right? Not when I take in a normal amount and then burn some of it off?

I am doing the Discovery National Body Challenge, an 8 week course which gives you a daily calorie goal based on weight, height, and age.

I've lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks, and I think that's pretty normal (I hope so).

And fyi--I've read (because that's one of the things I do with any new project--research), that the figure for calories you burn by exercise doesn't necessarily take into account the baseline calories you would have burned by just sitting there during the same amount of time, depending on the source of your numbers. If this is the case, make sure you're not counting them as additional calories burned, or you're net intake will be off.
