Hello to all!

I am a 22 year old male who has weighed about the same weight the past few years. Until recently, it hasn't bothered me (well, about the last year or so). I have tried to act on it a few times, but lacked the discipline. I now have the discipline and drive to do this the healthy way. Here is more about me...

I'm 22, male, 5 foot 6" and I weigh 160ish lbs. I used to weigh 140 lbs in high school and was thin then. I am not extremely obeise at all; I am considered "chubby". I want to lose the weight to be in better shape and I want to start excercising more. My problem is with fast food and I must be honest. I eat at a fast food restaurant every single day for lunch. I have the past year. I always tell myself no I won't eat nothing bad for me today and sure enough I am at the local Chipotle, Wahoo's Fish Taco, or any other to go fried food place ready to order. I want to stop. I also have a double chin when I push my chin against my neck and it drives me crazy. I am dislike my chubby cheeks as well.

What would would you guys recommend for a substitute lunch that is much healthier. What about the Jared diet? I was thinking that this would be the best thing as these Subways are everywhere. Any healthy fast food selections??!? I really would like to lose this weight. I have been drinking alot too since I turned 21. Every weekend I binge drink. I am willing to stop though for the cause...

I REALLY REALLY WANT TO MAKE THE EFFORT AND AM WILLING TO STOP DRINKING AND FAST FOODING!!

ANY POINTERS??!? GOOD DIET SUGGESTIONS?!? and STRATEGIES?!?I don't want to over due it either. I believe I have over done it when I tryed to diet and got burned out and stopped in the past. Not this time. I want a 6-pack!? : )

I did the subway "jerod" thing and it worked for a while. But do you really want to eat subway forever?

Try to balance your proteins, carbs, and Fats and remeber that every calorie counts.

Tips to Lose weight

Based on the general info you gave about height, weight... you need about 2100-2500 calories to maintain where you are. To lose one pound it takes 3500 calories. To lose one pound per week... reduce you calorie intake by 300 calories per day and burn 200 calories per day in exercise. To lose two pounds, that's double the calories and work. I would certainly consider making better food choices... You are what you eat... the fuel (food) you put in is what your body uses to regenerate itself. Try choosing fresh, whole foods and see how your energy levels rocket!! Fast food, even healthy fast food has a lot of sodium... you may want to try packing your lunch or at the very least having a salad with low fat toppings and a low fat dressing. Switching to NO soda is best... but if you can at least start with diet, that would be a step in the right direction. I wouldn't try to make drastic changes right away... pick a couple of things that you can improve on and when you master them... add a couple more healthy habits... pretty soon you'll have near perfect nutrition habits and you'll love it!

Hi I just joined here. wow you were just like I was. I was 230 2yrs ago but now I'm 170. I didn't really do any of the diet stuff so I never felt like I was on a diet thats why its so easy for me to stick with it. For me it was simply eliminating certain things...like soda and french fries just 2 name a couple. If you like soda drink diet you'll get used to it after a few glasses trust me. You can still have your quarter pounder no problem just got to be a bit more active. Check out my website/blog I posted a cool kick boxing routine on it that might help u.

the problem with diet soft drinks is the amount of sodium....

but im done with soft drinks and im done with most foods that have a certain amount of fats and sugars...however do remember some fats and sugars are good

im not going to diet as such....im just gonna watch what i eat....eat heathier...

The original poster hasn't been back to this thread since last May.

Maybe I can fill in for him. 1st off let me say HI. This is great place you all have here. I was reading a lot last night, and have learned quite a bit in just a short time.

My situation is the quite similar to the original poster. I too am 5'6 and i weighed in @ 160 just last week. I have always had a 30'' waist and never had a weight issue. I always ate what I wanted and pretty much maintained. Now,...i'm gaining pretty quickly have the double, check that, TRIPLE chin working. Having a smaller frame makes the weight show that much easier.

I'm looking to lose about 10-15 lbs. I would love to change my eating habits I started a food journal today and I'm going to keep track of what i eat on a daily basis. I think just keeping track will make me question every time i go to stuff my face. I'm pretty handy in the kitchen, so I'm not opposed to switching up what i eat. Or more importantly... HOW i eat.

I know i should start my own thread, but I just kinda jumped in because our situations were similar. I LOVE fast food.. taco bell, mc d's, KFC, etc.....I do not consume soda. That is one thing I have going for me. If i do, its usually diet sprite or something clear. I don't like dark colas. I have been starting to consume more water, i use 1/2 packet of Crystal Light lemonade just for flavor. What is the census on using these packets?

I have started hitting the local Y and been getting into playing basketball, well just shooting around. I do NOT have the stamina to actually RUN...to see me, you'd think I was pretty fit. I hide it well. I could sit here all day, but I wont.

Basically I'm just looking for tips/advice for loosing 10-15 lbs.

Thanks in advance.

Something to help...

My girlfriend put me on a program that is working out great for me. I'm on Herbalife and I've lost 30lbs in the matter of 2 and a half months. I'd suggest it to anyone. I'm so happy with myself and I like sharing my story with as many people as I can. Do some research on it. She can get you on a program too. No matter how you lose the weight, I wish you the best of luck!

start swimming in addition to your exersize, it does wonders, also do not consume any food after 6 pm. unless youre really hungry have some fruit and also before you eat anything consume at least 1 or glasses of water. green tea is also very good. glad if i could help:Angel_anim:

What, you don't know? At 6 PM the cellulite-creating cells wake up and turn all calories into fatassery.
