Plants vs Zombi-... err .. Junk food! My Diary!

Sooo, after finding out someone in my life was still trying to track me down (2 years later!) by searching for my old username, I'm back under something a little more generic! Thank you Korrie! Also, I love these forums and know I need the support and inspiration from you lovely people, so I can't give up!

Progress pictures:

(Should be noted, the last picture in this below 'timeline' was taken very early in the morning on a good day, in VERY flattering light - I'm not even close to toned yet! I was just so happy with that picture I HAD to include it! :D )

First pair of UK size 10 jeans!

My 'goal' trousers from before.. bit baggy now!

And my final goal of how I want to look: I bought the white and brown bikini in UK size 14 for when we go on holiday to my brother's wedding, and I want to look just as amazing in it as this young lady modelling it. Once I get to where I want to get, I'll post a picture! Sure, it's technically a bit big for me now, but thanks to it being so stretchy, it doesn't matter! Still fits so far!

And this is the dress I bought for the actual wedding - deliberately figure hugging! Just hope I won't put it to shame when the day come!

I'm a 28 year old female, 5'8 (173½cm) and dating a wonderful man who has also recently started trying to lose weight, so gonna be logging his progress here too! We live together in Sweden, and have two Ragdoll cats that I am proud to say we've human-toilet trained. ..Odd thing to be proud of, yes, but there we have it! As you can probably tell, I like pictures. Pictures are fun and less work than reading.. although I tend to write a lot as well. Argh!

Long story short, I started at 73kg in September last year and am currently, as of this morning, at 64.3kg. I'm think I'm aiming for around 58kg which I believe is absolutely achieveable by July, and I'm already feeling happier with myself and my body. I've gone from a UK size 14 (US 12) to a UK size 10 (US size 8), and I've noticed I have a lot more confidence with people in general, too! That said, I still have PLENTY of the unsightly wobbly stuff on my thighs, hips and stomach, and I want that gone!

My main reasons for doing this is, obviously, for myself; but the motivation that kicked it all off was the fact my brother is getting married in July. He's flying all of us (his fiancee and her family, my family, and my boyfriend) off to Cyprus for an all inclusive week of sunshine(!!!) and also holding the actual wedding ceremony over there. His fiancee's family are all, predictably, extremely fit, slim and sports motivated, and I don't want to be the fat chick in my brother's wedding photos, letting my side of the family down!

I try to use the treadmill for 30-40 minutes every other day, and write down everything I eat. I do try and calorie count as well, and have found LiveStrong's MyPlate to be very useful for that, but I quite often forget to use it. Over the past few months though, I've learned to listen to my body and the difference between actual hunger and 'I want that because it tastes nice', so most of the time I go by that. I'm trying to average about 4lbs a month, since slow seems to be better in the long run. We also treat ourselves once a month to a big fat pizza or something along those lines, just as a reminder that it's a TREAT, not an everyday meal and that we can still eat it in moderation.

Cheers all! Right now, there's SHEDLOADS of snow outside, so I'm gonna go burn some calories and do something a 28 year old probably shouldn't - build a massive snowman!

Hello,

your pictures are amazing, I wish my belly looked like that these days... it is my ultimate problem zone. While the rest of me is a little bit chubby and flabby, my belly is just a giant balloon. Apple figure they say, but I still think that is quite flattering... I say hippo figure ;o)!

The summer wedding thing... I am on the same train, one of my closest friends is getting married the last week of june, in Greece and I am one of her bridesmaids. So I will be wearing a fairly ugly dress (her colours are pink and green), I will be terribly hot, and I will have to be thin, because otherwise I will be her "chubby sweaty bridesmaid" and that will be documented 20 million times in pictures. So here is to us, being beautiful (and skinny) at those weddings!

My ultimate goal is also somewhere between 55 and 58 kg. I have weighed 58 before and still felt I needed to be a bit thinner, but you never know if this time with possibly more muscle you look good a few kg above your plan. I think you are going by looks and feel more than the number on the scale and that is great, because the numbers can be deceiving (and deceitful). A good weight is the weight you are happy at.

Have a lovely sunday, J.

Thanks J! And yeah, I totally agree - I'm going by what I see in the mirror, not by what the scales say.. although obviously I'm always happy when I see the numbers go down! (Been stuck at 64kg for the last month thanks to being a bit stupid at weekends, and it's getting tiresome!) Will check out your thread in a minute and see where you're at and how much you're at now - on an upside, starting this early is defo a good thing - never realised how long it would take to lose weight! (I average about ½-1lb a week if i'm lucky..) My stomach isn't as bad as it was, but, yeah, it defo seems to be the hardest area to shift.. I have a really stubborn fat pad on my lower stomach that just doesn't want to let go. It'll have to eventually!

Haha, I'm absolutely sure you will rock that badass pink and ..green.. dress! Interesting colour choice, but, uh, hey! I'm sure the cut and design will be flattering at least! Will look forward to the pictures of you in June, putting the bride to shame! (I kid! ... A bit!)

Our efforts, btw!:

You are doing good, love the cats!!

I am so jealous of your snow!!!! When it started getting cold here (in late December) I realized I didn't have any clothes that fit so I went and got a bunch of cute winter stuff, but now it's 75 degrees in the middle of February and I can't wear any of it!! I also love the cat on the leash! hehe it uses the toilet, it walks on a leash, you have a cat Sarah, accept it! ;) No, I think that's awesome, obviously a very smart cat!

Your new pictures look amazing!! Nice work!

Ahh, bless you guys, thank you! And heh, I should probably take that last pic in the 'progress pics' one down, since it's tooooootally misleading. Perfect angle, light and position doesn't make me toned! If only it was that easy!

And Sparked, you are MORE than welcome to some of the snow! It's still coming! I hate the bloody stuff! It's fun for about 2 days, then you get tired of having to wipe it off your car and windows and coat and cat... I'm pretty sure I was built for sunnier climates! And additionally, to add insult to injury, while building that creepy clown-snowman (who is still standing and probably will be for another month!), I've pulled all the muscles in my back, arse and thighs, haha, so I've been walking like an 80 year old for the last couple of days! Call the Wahhhambulance!

Boyfriend got me some roses today, and some funny zombie toys that pretty much wrap up our opinions of Valentines, lol. Will have to post a picture once I find the camera. He also took me shopping yesterday and found me some jeans.. meh. Sure, I found some that fit and he liked - but they're proper 'skinny jeans' - something I've never really liked. On top of that, I tried on about five different pairs and most of them were a struggle to get into. Have been in a 'fat' moodframe since. Almost everything I tried didn't fit in the way I expected it to, and I'm now pretty sure my cheap 'size 10s' are actually not being entirely honest. So yeah, am feeling a bit down - but at the same time, I think maybe this is what I've needed. I've become a bit complacent the last few weeks, and have only been maintaining, not actively losing.. so the clothes being too tight, plus Shawnnam's amazing results (same height/nearly same starting weight) have put things back into perspective. Only halfway through Feb, so still possible to try and hit my 4lb monthly goal!

Boyfriend is still slogging through too.. we went and looked up some gyms for him yesterday. He's actually said he's more than ready to go back there and he actually misses working out - just that he's gonna wait a few more weeks until A) his cold clears up, and B) payday comes and our bank account is happier. (We just had to spend £1000 getting our car through the MOT... sigh.) The gym he's looking at is high class £500/year one, with just about every machine under the sun.... which, imo, is stiill a ridiculous price - but it's literally a 10 minute walk from us. So, myea'.. I guess £500 isn't that expensive when it's the health of someone you love you're buying. That said.. give lottery win!

Whoa that IS an expensive gym!!! I miss the one I used to go to in the city, it was a big 24hr one and it was only like $30(AUD) a month! Can't go to any gyms at home (up north), they are really old and dodgy and cost around $100 a month!! UM, NO!! The big mining companies pay for gym memberships for their staff, and that's pretty much the whole clientele... Probably why they are so blown out in price!

Wish it would snow here lol!! I'm pretty over summer right now!!

I know what you mean about complacency, Sarah :( I think that's something I'm struggling with a bit too. The only thing we can do is not get discouraged and just keep pushing forward :)

Love the pics!! I like the evilness your snowman exhibits ;) It's got a wicked little expression with the eyebrows and such, hah :p Looks like you both had fun :)

I have no doubt you'll look great in those goal outfits! Hell, I believe you could pull them off right now just judging from your recent pics! :)

I agree with Lucy - that's pretty pricey! But if it's as stocked as you say, and only ~10min away, then maybe it's worth it :) Oh, and you'll also have access then to treadmills that go up to and above 12mph, yes? ;)

Same in England, Luz! I was going to one as a 'guest' with a couple of my Uni mates for a while, and they were paying £70 a month.. That's £840($1239AUD) /year! Contracted and at student prices, too! It's absolutely mental!

Frogged, haha, at £500/year there's just NO WAY we can afford two memberships! Will be his and his alone - I'd love to go with him but it's just not realistically in our price range. There was another one at about £340/year with a swimming pool and stuff (which means I could go with him on a smaller membership for the swimming only at £160/year) - but yeah, we need to have a chat about it. It's quite a bit further away but being able to go together would be pretty awesome, and I LOVE swimming. But, yeah, will totally get it if he wants to go for the high end one instead - he used to take that stuff really freaking seriously as a HOBBY, so makes sense. He's also pretty darn near below 100kg now.. was 100.8kg this morning. Guess all that spinach is doing good, haha. Funny enough, my brother has also started trying to lose weight for his wedding, since he's about 98kg himself, so the race is on for those two!

As for me, am into the 63s! See, sometimes that's all your head needs - a reminder that it ain't over and won't be for a while yet! Suddenly and abruptly at 63.4 for the last few days! Can't really explain it either... unless maybe my body was retaining water from all the salty crappy food I was eating? Not sure - but happy to see it roll down regardless, even if it is possibly just water weight! This is officially the lighest I've ever weighed, that I can remember. I'm thrilled!

I am absolutely BORED AS HELL right now so filling one of these silly things out. Why the heck not.

1. What is your current height and weight?

5'8 / 174cm, 139lbs
2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
126 - I think. Depends if I start looking scrawny or not!
3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
126lb!
4. Why do you want to lose weight?
I just wanna be proud of what I see in the mirror, rather than depressed.

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?

My brother is getting hitched to his fiancee in July, and her and all her family are very sports motivated. I don't wanna let my side down!

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?

Temptations. Namely, chocolate, pizza and pastries. Complacency also.

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?

I never really saw myself as overweight - but I was. I've wanted to fix it for ages, but due to my height never really felt I had to. I do.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?

Portion control, mostly. Calorie counting, a food log and buying a treadmill have all contributed though.

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?

This is the first time I've really tried 'properly'. Sure I've done the 'diet' thing now and then, but it would only last about a week at most.

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?

See above!

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?

I've tried Adios in the past, but was still eating badly. They didn't work. Nothing does, except hard work and commitment. Fact.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?

Food, sure.. not drink. Too tedious to keep updating.

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?

Ye, sometimes. Lately it's been egg white omelettes, salads, gratins, black beans with pasta, chilli con carne with brown rice.. etc.

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?

Try to keep it at once a month, and it's pretty much always a pizza.

15. What are your three favorite foods?

Pizza, curry and chocolate.

16. What are your three favorite restaurants?

Don't really have any..

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?

I don't think I can do much else differently to what I'm already doing! :)

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?

My self confidence. For sure. I'm gaining some back, but am still a little unsure.

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry?

I've been trying not to, but yeah, I do snack.. been trying to keep it on healthy stuff though! Mostly fruits! (grapes, oranges, apples, etc)

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?

In the past, many times.. I LOVE any hot, spicy food and I can eat that forever.

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret?

No.

22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?

Yeah, have noticed I'm more inclined to eat junk food when I'm upset.

23. Do you eat as a reward?

No.

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
I don't watch TV, and I'm trying to cut back on the computer-munchies. :p

25. What do you normally eat for a meal?

Lately, for my lunch, been having a veggie burger with light mayo, onions, and lettuce and a little spicy sauce. Wholemeal bun, of course! (Am being bad and snacking on a little pepperoni atm!)

26. What type of snacks do you eat?

Unhealthywise, nearly always chocolate. I have a bit of chocolate every day. Very occasionally, popcorn too.

27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?

Treadmill - but not an awful lot, admittedly. Haven't done any for the last week since my boyfriend's been off work and we've been sorting paperwork on various different annoying things.

28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?

Our living room!

29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?

Swimming, cycling and running.. I think I'd really enjoy rock climbing or wrestling as well, since i*m a competitive person.. just sadly, more expense.

30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?

The wedding coming up in July. I have no excuse not to reach it, since I "only" have 13lbs to go! (Although they're meant to be the hardest!)

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals?

No. As cheesy as it sounds, the changes in my reflection is, genuinely, enough.

YAY you got into the 63's!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hurray::hurray:How exciting to see your smallest number ever!!! So glad to see you are back on track and hitting those milestones! :)

Enjoyed reading your questions, rock climbing is such an awesome activity, but yeah very expensive both indoor and outdoor. My school has this huge rockwall that I could go climb for free, but they tie you up to a rope and then make a hot guy hold it so he can catch you if you fall... yeah.. I'll be passing on that one for now!

Keep on kicking ass, no doubt you'll be looking totally hot come wedding time!

Wow, that is so expensive!!!!! Crazy that people pay that much too. OMG YAY you got into the 63s!!!!!!!!!! Haven't seen that since before Christmas, feels like forever ago. I think Christmas killed my motivation, all that cheese and chocolate... :drooling:... I'm still recovering, lol!!

Yay Sarah!!

You're really inspiring me to get passed this plateau and into the 170's again! I love it! :)

One small recommendation about your answer to question #26, what kind of chocolate do you prefer? I have a HUGE sweet tooth as well (pasta/pizza vs ice cream, the ice cream will always win!), but you can make it slightly more diet-friendly if you go with dark chocolate due to the good antioxidants it contains :)

Not sure if you prefer that or milk chocolate - both taste yummy imo! :)

Congrats again on getting into the 63s! :p You're awesome! :)

Oh, and we definitely gotta play GW2 when it comes out! I'm looking forward to it and will be getting it! =)

Thank youuu! And haha, Sparked, you don't make it sound all THAT awful.. there's worse ways to exercise!! :D Luz, my friend cancelled her direct debit as she didn't fully understand that it wasn't something you could stop whenever you wanted (she's lovely but a bit ditzy..), and they started trying to take her to court, lol.. lucky for her she has rich parents. :p

I don't think I can make my 4lb (62.5kg) goal for this month, but I'm still trying.. should get close at least! Hopefully into the 62s if I really try hard.. have a week and a half left, so just gotta pursuade my body that it CAN let go! (That said, I fully intend to have some crispy bacon and eggs for dinner this afternoon! Ha!) I've NEVER seen the 63s EVER before though, so either way, I'm happy! I know even if I only drop 2lb a month, I SHOULD be able to hit my target by July - but obviously gunning higher since I'm not sure how much toning I'm gonna need. My thighs/tummy are still quite flabby, sadly - but definitely smaller! Have also started taking an orange-flavoured water-soluble multi vitamin and anti-oxidant each morning too - which, with my usual feminine grace and delicateness (read: I HAVE NONE. AT ALL.), promptly managed to knock ALL down myself today. Hmph.

I can still smell orange. :drooling:

Frogged: On the chocolate front, it just depends what's closest, haha. We were buying dark chocolate for a while, but ye, just depends what's on offer at the supermarket. :D Cheers for the tip though!

And yeah, as I said to you via PM, I'm all for GW2! Looks badass!

Yea the lowest I've been in recent memory was 63kg flat when I was 18 and working at a gym- the closest I've come since then was for a week I was 63.5kg just before Christmas... I'll get there again, I'm not worried!! It's so weird thinking about me being heavier, DREAMING about when I'd weigh 66 again (the lowest I got the year before last!) and now I'm less than that thinking how much I still have to go... kinda makes me think I was so much bigger than I thought I was before I started losing weight!! If that makes sense!

Haha vitamin orange smell all over you... blah!! Well done :p

AOMG Sarah I thought you completely disappeared, I was looking for your old thread under your old username and Couldn't find it, I thought you left or something. Took me a while to find this thread but, I'm glad you are back and doing good.

Well thanks MLB, really happy to see you back as well! And so close to beating 100kg as well - make sure you report back here THE SECOND it happens! :D

And yeah Luz.. It's mad, I was looking back at some of my old pictures and saw a picture I'd taken of the scales, absolutely thrilled that it was 69.9kg lol.. it feels pretty damn good to have that in the past, knowing how much progress you've made and how much you've lost! Getting started seems to be the hardest part, but the successes are addictive!

Anna, yes, yes it is. It always is. Evil (but tasty!) stuff!

Scales said I was 62.8kg this morning! But am sure that's water weight.. haha, even so, happy to see it, albeit briefly! I've also found a way to cure my snack-attacks.. raw chillis! haha, I LOVE spicy food and I've read in several places that spice can speed up your metabolism.. so right now I'm delicately gnawing my way through a raw red chilli.. seems to work for curing my 'give nomnom' syndrome!

Also had some good news today - my language course is only part time(8am-12), so a lot of the time in the afternoons I'm bored off my skull and trying to teach myself - but there's only so many hours you can study something before you want to top yourself, and additionally a lot of Swedish words are written COMPLETELY different to how they're said.. 'köp' for example is said 'shop', and means 'buy', so that's easy to remember - but you wouldn't necessarily know how to PRONOUNCE it when you're reading it off a page...

Anyways, yes, so, I went in to the employment place and said I was tired of boring afternoons and wanted to be proactive, so they suggested I try volunteering in daycare to improve my Swedish and also effectively gain some work experience in this country - which sounds good to me! I'm honestly not a big fan of kids, but if this step helps me in every regard then I'd be a dumbass not to take it. Also stuff like "brunhårigsjuksköterska" "(brun-whoreig-hwick-shurtterska!) means 'the nurse has brown hair', but if I hesitate to think about the words I need, and effectively split it up to "Brun(brown) hårig (haired) sjuk (sick) sköterska (nurse)", it translates to 'that nurse is sick, brown and hairy'. No pressure, right? Ugh! Hopefully the kids won't be judgemental! Gonna have an interview next week and then they'll decide which place I'll be working at.

Wish me luck!

PS: Remember I said, AGES back, that I'd bought a blue dress that helps hide tummy imperfections? Well, it's still DEFINITELY too short for me to feel confident wearing as a dress, but i think it looks pretty nice paired with the skinny jeans my boyfriend bought me last week! (Sadly doesn't hide your bingo-wings or back-muffin so much, but I'm working on it!)

PPS:

YOUR MOVE.

AI know what you mean Sarah... I hate my love handles as well, and can't wait for them to go away. but seriously girl, you look really amazing.

'sick, brown, and hairy'.. bahaha :p nice!

Be careful though, Sarah :) Try not to say anything that would be too damaging to their fragile young minds :] Good luck on whatever gig you're assigned though! I know you'll be great at whatever you do :)

Also, WOW. You look phenomenal in that blue dress!! =]

Very, very nice! :) Glad you're doing well, getting the new language down, and finding employment, Sarah! :hurray:
