Photos and a plan!!!

Ok, my marathon is over (I ran 26.2 miles in 4 hours 39 minutes and 2 seconds). I haven't weight trained in nearly a year. I burned 6% body fat during my marathon training (over the last 7 months). Unfortunately, that knocked off about 25 lbs from my frame. Fortunately it was almost all fat weight! So, onto my goal... I am planning to hit the weights hard in the next coming months. In this post, I will layout my workouts and diet to show exactly how I achieve(d) my goals.

My goal = 175 lbs. @ 12% body fat by July 31, 2005.
Starting (today) size = 162 lbs. @ 12.6% body fat -- March 4, 2005.

I will start my workouts this week and next by only using body weight for my lifting. I will do this to condition my tendons and muscles back to strength. Also, I am slightly increasing my calorie intake at this time to 2,800 per day.

Next, I will start adding weights, but do lower weight with more reps. during week 4 I will start doing some heavy stuff and move into supersets during week 5. From there, the intense stuff begins.

I have attached some pictures to show my progress... Also, I will attach new pictures and update this topic at least once per month along my way.

Wish me luck,
Rip

Here is my front lat pose... I know I have dwindled down, but my body fat is pretty sweet (hasn't been this low in years).

Obviously I need to work on everything, but I am digging my legs which have always lagged in the past.

Hopefully, in a month, I will have made some nice progress...

Feel free to comment, laugh, suggest, etc...

Over-and-out,

Congratulations on your marathon!I probably would have died somewhere into the 5th mile.Good luck on your goals!

I started doing some heavy weights this week (switching from body weight exercises). I gained ~3 lbs. during my body weight workouts. I will start intense weight training next week (along with Creatine). And, on ~4/4 I will post my next set of photos. Also, I will list my original measurements (puny) and my latest ones.

BTW - All of the photos (unless otherwise noted) are/will be unpumped because I take them during my off day. Measurements are also unpumped and I don't contract the muscles at all for the measurements.

The big news is: I decided to shave to see if this helped accentuate anything... I think that it helps alot in showing definition. I will need opinions when I post my new pics. I will post the new pics in about 12 days.

My wife thinks the shaving is silly, but I like it, because I am also working harder trying to fill-in some muscle. I use a hair trimmer (buzzer) for my legs and a razor for my abs annd chest. Do any of you remove body hair?? If so, how do you do it? I waxed my abs once last Summer. ONCE. It was awesome how clean my abs looked, but it hurt pretty bad. If I did it again, I would have someone else do it, instead of doing it myself.

I wish I was prone to a slender build like yourself, rather than being stuck with 'fat genes'.

In addition to shaving (which is very normal for males to shave to show off definition) you might also want to tan, or use a sunless tan lotion. Tanned skin, especially when oiled, will really show off muscle peaks and valleys due to the added contrast.

Yeah man, you start adding some size and you'll see it right away - damn skinny guys always get the chicks. Keep killing it.

Nice job on the marathon!

Have you ever considered Martial Arts? Your build is perfect for it, nice long reach and endurance to the max :)

Yeah, I have studied Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, and Wing Chun (also Krav Maga, but only by DVD and book - so it doesn't really count). I am currently doing Tai Chi for an hour each day. I dig it, because it calms my normally crazy personality down a bit.

:)

Then I need to go Brazilian!

:)

Actually, I speak Japanese... I should study Aikido or something along that line.

ohhhh how could I forget Brazilian Ju Jitsu.

I want to take either ju-jitsu or aikido when I attain Shodan in Shotokan, get some of that grappling/joint locking experience.

Forget Ju Jitsu -- he needs Capoeira.

I studied that for a while. I'm Portuguese, so picking up on the lingo and culture surrounding it wasn't tough :)

I don't know much about capoeira, Im gonna go ju-jitsu or aikido because its available in my area. Not much available around where I live.
