Alright so here's why people piss me off!

I just got through with band practice and me and my band are waiting outside for everyones rides.

for some reason my band mate, i'll call her Jessica, starts naming all of these clothing companies that she likes including American Eagle. I hate American Eagle (they're over priced, and is all the same stuff) so i said "i hate american Eagle" and she IMMEDIATLY says back to me "Thats cause you can't fit in'em!"

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?

Its not like she knew me for years and was just joking! She's known me for like 3 or 4 months!

WHY ARE PEOPLE SUCH THOUGHTLESS JERKS!?

sorry for the rant i'm just letting out steam...

Has any of you had people like this to deal with?
 
I've never had a conversation with my friends like that, but I guess that's mainly cause THEY don't like places like American Eagle and Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch, either! I don't like them because they don't carry my size, I don't like them because they make it seem like in order to have style you have to look the same as everyone else and be a walking billboard.

There are tons of stores that I love like Hot Topic, Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, etc., and they don't carry anything near my size.
 
She might have thought you were insulting her or hurting her too by saying that you hated a clothing company that she liked...

Use how you feel as motivation to get to your goal ... :)
 
Its just a fact, a large at AE is like a medium at most. Believe me, you'll never make changes unless you hear the harsh truth from people you know. I did and I lost 50lbs over four months. Lose some weight, show her up and go buy a shirt from AE, laugh in her face.
 
people are rude and stuck up, i would have said fuck you whore!

Do not put much thought into it. Understand that a cheap shot like that are done by cheap people. A person of respect and class would never had said such a thing.

Simply don't further associate yourself with her any longer. Because you can see the error in such a blow like that you should understand you are a "better" person than she. And honestly, Had I been your friend and in the place at the time I would have put that bitch in her place. So, The fact that no one around you said anything. Might make you want to reevaluates who your friends really are. Of course, maybe you simply have very docile friends who were afraid to take a shot from her as well.

Basically, The fact that people can be mean,rude, and so on does not bother or surprise me. Its the fact that others stand by and do nothing that is a shame.
 
I get some of that comments, we might smile but they really hurt... I guess you should just say: "that hurts" and turn your back...
 
Mal made a very good point. She MAY have thought you were insulting her or trying to hurt her, nonetheless what she said was mean and unnecessary. I used to have friends who'd ALWAYS drag me into stores that never had my size and then wonder out loud (sniggering and laughing with the shop assistants) why the clothes couldn't get past one thigh. These were my friends, and they made a concerted effort to make me feel inferior.

It's ok to be angry, but I'm glad you didn't resort to retaliation. People still readily fall back on 'fat' jokes as a cheap shortcut way of insulting others, and there's little or nothing you can do about people like that.. You will need to take it as one of those things that happen in life, and you'll get over it soon enough. I think that is such a great motivation for you to get in shape though, although you also have to be sure that you're doing it for yourself, and not for revenge purposes, cos you might not feel fulfilled afterwards.

I'm sorry you had to go through something like that. These 'little' things hurt the most, but it's no reflection on you - it's a reflection on how warped people's minds can be.

Draw a line under it, grit your teeth, and do what you have to do. You'll be fine. :)
 
Sorry you had to have that happen, Recruit. People can be so mean. Fortunately when it comes to clothing I have never had to put up with that from people around me. The worse I get is "wow you dress really well for a big girl, where do you find your clothes?".

By the way Lindsey, if you like Hot Topic clothing, Torrid is the plus size version of that store. They are the same company. Not sure if there is one where you live but you can it on line as well.

alright ALOT of you guys are missing hte point! Its not about the STORE! its about what she SAID! Honestly it had never accured to me that they might not have my size...i just don't like AE. Also I wasn't insulting her i was just joking like "ahh! i hate american eagle!" yah know?

Trevor- Thanks for the reply...I wish i could but she is in my band so its hard. My frien Paul was there (he's in the band too) and i've known him as long as i've known her (like 4 months) and he didn't really know what to do...After she said that to me we both kind of looked at eachother in shock and i just said "uhh...ok what ever" before anyone could say anything.

She actually said "ha i'm just joking, i'm sure you could fit" but she wasn't...i could tell...she realized she f***ed up...

See its different with my close friends who say stuff like that...cause i know them so well i can just punch them in the stomach then and there lol They do it to give me a hard time but also try to help me, not flat out insult me. And i don't know her that well. Where does she get off saying that crap to me?

Oy...people! they're the worst!
 
That was one of my biggest pet pieves...back when I was overweight when my close friends even jokingly said something about my weight...sure I'd laugh it off...but inside it always hurt.

So eventually whenever someone made fun of my weight I would just point out one of their flaws.

Than finally after that I just dropped all the weight so no one could talk crap anymore :p
 
Not to be mean or nothing cause I have mad respect for MarinsS(more if you were army :rotflmao: ) but it isnt no big deal just brush it off move on use it as a motivational tool.
 
People will do anything to out do others. You can either choose to blow comments like this off or learn how to fight back with words. Either way, just say screw em and be the best you can be.

Back on topic, Recruit, people like that are assholes, pardon my french. But also remember that we're all humans, we say things we don't mean, or word something wrong. I don't think she meant anything by it, but if she did, you need to find a new friend.

Don't let it get to you, you should be happy the way you are. If you want to loose pounds, great, but do it for yourself, not to impress her or anyone else.

that bitch meant it, i know that type, and man do i know how to make em hate themselves just as much as they wanna make large ppl feel bad!

(im a dick when ppl make me angry :cool: )
 
Ok take a step back from the situation---and a deep breath.

1. You (inadvertantly) embarrassed her by knocking down something that she likes.

2. She took revenge, as teenage girls will always do.

3. (and this is most important) She apologized. That may not make you feel any better, it might have been a less than sincere apology but she did try to rectify the situation.

You know that she f-ed up. She knows that she f-ed up. Hopefully she learned her lesson and won't do it again.
