Pedometers

Does anyone here use one? Do you find it helpful? I was wondering what brands of Pedometers that people would reccomend.

I just bought one at walmart that was under $4. I like it but if it isn't exactly upright it doesn't work. I don't know if more expensive ones work better.

I found one in my closet - I have NO idea where it came from and I don't know the brand, but I LOVE it! I input my height and weight and it took my stride length. It measures steps, miles, kms and calories.

I don't know if this is on all of them.

I am STUNNED at how much I walk in a day. Although, I don't count it as excercise unless I'm actually out for a walk or my heart rate is sustained.

It's almost 11:30 am my time and I've already put in over 2 miles while getting ready to go camping!

Just having it on is a reminder of meeting my goals.
My own little talisman ;)

There are tons of manufacturers out there for pedometers in all sorts of price points.. many of them have bells and whistles that are just not necessary... you want simple features... the ability to adjust the stride because everyone has a different stride, and the ability to count steps (most people 2000 - 2500 steps is a mile) The rest, is functionality for you.. I wanted one i could clip to my sneaker since I already have my blackberry, Ipod, and other gadgets at my waist...

they really are helpful to have
