Palms facing each other

I broke my wrist a long time ago, and ever since i haven't been able to do pull ups with an underhand grip because i don't have full range of motion with my wrist. so i have been doing pull ups with my palms facing each other. is that better than pull ups with an overhand grip? or should i do those instead? what do you think?

Those are sometimes called "neutral" grip pullups. I find them considerably easier than chinups (with the palms facing away). Depending on your build they tend to optimize the involvement of both back and biceps, where pullups tend to emphasize biceps and chinups back.

intersting.....

So, do you switch hands? I'm thinking these may be easier on my hands when I am out in the woods, or at the park and stuff.

and since we have defines pull ups and chin ups, mybe we could call these "pull-abouts" heeeheeee

Grips - lack of range of motion

Hi Biggie

About the lack of range of motion. It could be also the fascia of the muscles in the arm got bunched up so it is limited and shortened. This is putty like material through the muscle holding the muscle fibers in osition and the bones in position. Its shape gets shortened with tightening aactivities and injuries.

But it CAN be relengthened. See a Structural Integration Bodyworker or a Myo Fascial Release therapist to do the hands-on spreading of it. It will need both arms and the upper torso and maybe abdominals and back as well - to get the whole rsnge of movement much better. I do this for a livlihood but there are people all over the world and my website has a lot of free info - see the free articles page. I also offer DVD's to show people how to do this and if you as a member of this group want one I will send it to you for my $5 making and shipping cost -(I sell it for $55) - the website has a video page - long - with info on it as well.

I also have Olympic Athlete world record holder testimonials on the site as well as other people. (so you know that i know what i am talking about.)

I routinely help bodybuilders regain flexibility and even can lift more because the tightening aspect of the intense muscle work causes a reduction in the length of muscle in the fascia and in the groups of muscles' inter-corrdination that is already wired into the nerves - but that the fascial shortness inhibits. You can do some yourself, a partner can do it, or a professional can do it.

My links page has references to schools that have practitioner lists. There are practitioners in most continents and a LOT in North America and Europe.

Best - Lou

Just email me for any info about this through my website - I had put this is an edited version but it, and some typos corrections, did not get done somehow.
