Overwhelmed by internet info

Hi all.

I've found that weight loss is a struggle for me, not because I can't do it, but because I don't know *how* to do it. No surprise. The internet is full of conflicting information & I frankly don't want to waste months struggling with the wrong concept.

This is the biggest frustrating concept/fear I've gathered from various health websites. Scenario: I'm going to change my diet and lifestyle by cutting out junk and focusing on a high protein, low carb/sugar with an emphasis on protein and vegetables. Incorporate some exercise. Then I will lose a bit of weight, my body will readjust, and I'll have to keep cutting out foods, eating less, exercising more because my body "keeps getting used to it", to a point where I'm not losing weight anymore without being miserable and hungry.

Is this is truly how the body works? If I adopt a healthy eating plan, will I be able to stick with it all through weight loss or am I going to have to keep cutting it back all the time?

The metabolism/chemical processes are confusing and foreign to me. Could anyone explain how this works and if the above scenario is legit?

Thank you.

I'm not an expert, like Tru, above, but I can say from my own experience that the body doesn't "get used to it" in a bad way. And no, I don't think what you've described is how things work. Probably some changes that you'll make to lose weight will have to be permanent, yes, but that doesn't mean
being miserable and hungry.
Your body will more likely get used to not having large amounts of junk food, and you'll wonder how on earth you ever ate [whatever] without feeling grossed-out. So you won't be "miserable and hungry", even if you're going to be eating less than now, and not having something that right now you think you'd be miserable to not eat again.
